Tractors Subsidy in Andaman Nicobar
For timely field operation of the farmers of these Islands, the department provide assistance to the farmers for purchase of tractor with three matching implements by their-own by availing subsidies from the department.
Loan
- Individual farmers/Co-operative Societies are eligible for bank loans towards the cost of tractor with three matching implements including one trailer. 15% of the cost to be contributed by the farmer as down payment

- 30% cost subsidy or Rs. 30,000/- whichever is less
- 100% transport subsidy is provided by the department.

Eligibility
- The Progressive Farmer/Cooperative Societies should possess 6Acre/2.51 hectare of land in his ownership.
- The land in question to take Loan cum subsidy on tractor should be free from all incumbance and have clear title of ownership with detailed survey particulars
How to apply
- The application forms are available with concerned Zonal Officers or Incharge of sub-depot
- The concerned farmer should fill-up the application form alongwith all records of the land.
- The application is to be submitted to the concerned Zonal Officer or Incharge of the sub-depot.
- In normal case, the scheme is sanctioned within 45 days.
Tractor Subsidy

1) Application in plain paper with details of land possessed by him along with the recommendation of the zonal officers to the Directorate of Agriculture, Port Blair. 2) After selecting the farmers as beneficiaries by the state level committee, the cases of selected beneficiaries are forwarded to the bank for sanction of loan component and to the Andaman and Nicobar Administration for sanction of subsidy portion. After obtaining sanction from the Administration, the subsidy portion is handed over to the bank within 5 days.Subsidy to Farmers Under Mechanized Farming
Under the plan scheme Assistance to farmers under high yielding programme in mechanized farming Govt. of India intends to encourage farmers to purchase tractor with matching implements upto 40 PTO HP. As per the scheme formulated by the Andaman and Nicobar Administration and approved by the Govt. of India, a cost subsidy of 25% limited to Rs.1,00,00/- whichever is less to the cost of tractor with matching implements being provided along with 100% transport subsidy. The farmers will be eligible for the bank loan towards the cost of tractor with three matching implements including one trailor. The individual farmers/cooperative societies are eligible for the benefits of the scheme provided they posses minimum 6 acres of Agriculture land. The down payment of the margin money will be 15% of the cost to be contributed by the individual farmers/cooperative society. The selection committee will identify the farmers/cooperative societies for financial assistance. Under the Plan programme/RKVY scheme farmers are encouraged for purchase power tillers (8-15hp) under which cost subsidy @40% limited Rs.45,000/- whichever is less per power Tiller will be provided against Govt. of India approved Make and Model. Similarly under plan scheme farmers are encouraged to purchase Paddy Transplanter and Paddy Harvester on the same pattern of scheme i.e @40% limited Rs.45,000/- whichever is less. The farmers will have to receive the power tillers/Transplanter/Paddy Harvester from Port Blair. What to Do?
1) Procure appropriate machinery/ equipment as per land holding size and crop. 2) Machinery & equipment can be used by Custom Hiring/sharing by groups of farmers. 3) Conserve Resources - Use Zero-till Seed Drill, Laser Leveler, Happy Seed Drill Rotavator, etc. 4) Learn proper use, routine maintenance and servicing of Farm Machinery through training organized by Department, KVKs, Farm Machinery Training &Testing Institutes (FMTTIs) & Central Island Agriculture Research Institute.Plan A
