Volkswagen Ameo Review

Europe’s leading car manufacturer Volkswagen has unveiled its first compact sedan known as Ameo at the Auto Expo Event 2016 which is a part of German Engineering with an Indian heart. Volkswagen will soon start its new Ameo car sales in the Indian market by the mid 2016. It is expected to be priced around Rs.6.00 Lac and it has been specially designed for the Indian car enthusiasts which will attract a lot of potential buyers. This new sedan will fight with its similar other cars such as Maruti Swift Dzire, Ford Figo Aspire, Hyundai Xcent, Tata Zest and Honda Amaze.

The new Ameo comes in two engine options i.e. petrol and diesel engines

1) Volkswagen Ameo – 1.2L 3-cylinder MPI
2) Volkswagen Ameo – 1.5L 4-cylinder TDI

Design and Engineering

Exteriors

Volkswagen Ameo looks really stunning with its stylish external appearance affixed with more features. The vehicle comes with a body colored bumpers with chrome treatments enhancing the appearance of the car. The chrome finish has been done also for door handles which is quite good. It has been designed embodying Volkswagen’s philosophy of Think Ahead. Think New and it will satisfy the young urban Indians. While designing the vehicle, the company kept in their mind about the compact sedan segment in India and the Indian customer. Moving to the core of design philosophy, the vehicle shows timeless appeal and sharp, distinctive lines along with highlights like the front spoiler lip in body color or the distinctive fold in the outer edges in the front bumper. This compact sedan may have double barrel headlamps with turn indicators and LED daytime running lights. Some of its exterior elements include an updated bumper, a large windscreen, fog lamps, outside mirrors and black colored B-pillars. Apart from that, the car will be affixed with a L-shaped tail lamps with turn indicators and a revised bumper with reflectors.

Interiors

While watching the interiors closely, the new Volkswagen Ameo gets decorated with a dual tone black and beige color scheme which seems to be quite attractive. The car will be offered with a decent instrument cluster, three spoke steering wheel, air vents and a center console with silver inserts. It is expected to be offered with the well cushioned seats with fabric upholstery. Volkswagen Ameo gets loaded with lot of exciting interior features which includes rain sensing wipers, cruise control, “climatronic” automatic AC with dust and pollen filter, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs with turn indicators, cooled glove box, auto dimming IRVM. Not only this, the vehicle will also have small leather package gearshift knob, height adjustable driver seat, one piece fold rear seat, multifunction display, all 4 power windows with comfort function and pinch guard safety, remote controlled central locking and many more. Volkswagen Ameo is not only good at interior space, comfort but also has an excellent infotainment system. This vehicle is integrated with a touchscreen multimedia music system, radio, CD MP3 player, USB, Aux-in, SD Card Reader, four speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, Mirror Link, voice control, i-pod connectivity, phonebook/sms viewer etc. All these features packed with the Volkswagen Ameo makes the ride a pleasurable one.

Ameo Engine Specification

Ameo will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options in which the petrol variant gets a 1.2 litre, three cylinders with a multi point fuel injection system. It may be able to generate a peak power of 74bhp at 5400rpm with torque of 110Nm at 3750rpm. On the other hand, the diesel engine of the vehicle is likely to have 1.5L with four cylinders integrated with a common rail fuel injection system which can be able to offer 88.7bhp power along with torque output of 230Nm. The diesel engine gets coupled to a five speed manual transmission and seven speed DSG transmission where as the 1.2L petrol MPI engine will be mated to five speed manual gear box. Packed with high performance engine, the Ameo is expected to deliver healthy fuel efficiency.

Brakes and Suspension System

The braking and suspension system details of the new Ameo are not yet revealed clearly but it is expected to have disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. Not only that, AntiLock Braking System quite standard for all variants is an added advantage for the new car. On the other hand, the vehicle will be offered with a front McPherson strut and a semi independent trailing arm in the rear for easy handling of the car. Along with that, the car will have a power assisted steering column for easy maneuverability. Moving to its wheel section, the vehicle will be equipped with a set of steel rims for the base and mid range trims and the top end variants is possible to have alloy wheels.
