Review on Tata Super ACE
Tata who has been thriving in the commercial vehicle industry, introduces Super Ace, with an intention to reach the
small business owner, who are in wander of purchasing reliable and robust pickup. Super Ace,1 ton is essentially a bigger version of the ACE mini-pick up truck.It comes loaded with a variety of features that ensures both efficiency and comforts in terms of high load carrying capacity and better interiors.Lets discuss whether Super Ace is really a worthy contender or not?
Build and Styling:
Each and every component is being added taking the comfort of the driver in to mind.The front windshield is made larger to make the driver gain good vision out of the cabin. The placement of headlamps, that is positioned lower makes the Super Ace look large and heavy-duty truck. Measuring at the compact dimensions of
4.34m in length and 1.56m in width along with the turning radius of 5.1m,gives it a tad narrow look.When negotiating busy narrow streets high degree of maneuverability is achieved with the aid of these dimensions. The top variant comes with an air conditioner, power windows and a power steering. Getting inside, it gives us a feel of driving a passenger vehicle. Especially steering wheel, fascia and center console reflects this car-like cabin effect. However the fit and finish is not so good. Also the materials are not soft to touch. The
seat is positioned so high ,that makes tall drivers feel somewhat uncomfortable. However there are provisions for mobile charger sockets ,adjustable seats, lockable glove box and new dashboard that is easy to operate makes the driver and co-passenger feel somewhat better while driving.Further,Super Ace,boasts
2630mm load bed and
three-way drop sides on the load bay that makes it outstanding in the LCV segment and gives a tough competition to its rivals like Ashok Leyland Dost and Piaggio Porter
Powertrain and Performance:
Super Ace is powered by a
1.4 -litre inline 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine that would deliver upto
70 Bhp at 4,500 r/min and peak torque of 135 Nm of torque at 2,500 r/min found to be getting mated with a rubbery
five speed synchromesh gearbox. Thus the power train would propel Super Ace to a top speed of 125 Kph .Further one can claim the fuel efficiency up to 14 Kmpl.To enhance the ride quality, the front of the pickup truck gets independent suspension.However,the NVH levels are worse.and the cabin is filled with wind and engine noise even when its riding around the city. On the highway lanes that are free at times, it is advisable to keep under 100km/h. The effort has to be applied through the gear from level 1 to 4 for optimum momentum. Overall, this pickup truck is suitable only with the urban bounded areas.Also,one can endure the difficult terrains with the support of
high grade ability of 39%. Provision of
3 year /100000km warranty and 3 year/60,000km maintenance plan is a great boon for the customers.
Verdict:
Though it doesn’t promote creature comfort to the expected level,it satisfies the performance criteria and efficiency through the means of low running costs, standard maintenance plan and lower average consumption ,thus arriving at the reasonable price tag of
Rs4,13,610(ex-showroom,Delhi) So, the Super Ace is expected to be able to transport goods to crowded places as a last mile goods transport option
