The giant manufacturer Tata Motors has launched the new car named Tata Sumo Gold which is incorporated with stunning interiors and exteriors which enhances the style of the car without any mechanical changes. The Sumo Gold is well known for its tension free driving pleasure and best fuel economy car. The car comes with attractive price ranges which may vary according to the places.
Tata Sumo Gold Engine Details
The engine of the Sumo Gold is offering excellent performance with a displacement of about 2956cc. The variants of Sumo Gold BSIV and Sumo Gold BSIII is powered by a 3.0 litre CR4 engine and a 4SP TCIC engine respectively which provides a maximum power of about 81.8 BHP @ 3000 RPM for the BS-IV variant and 68.4 BHP @ 3000 RPM for BSIII variants. Eventhough it is loaded the car gives the best performance. Similarly, the maximum torque offered by the Tata Sumo Gold BSIV is about 250 NM @ 1000-2000 RPM where as the Sumo Gold BSIII offers 223 NM @ 1600-2200 RPM.
Acceleration, Mileage and Fuel Economy
Actually the engine of the Sumo Gold is not only good in terms of performance but it is also a frugal oil burner which satisfies the Indian automobile customers. Both variants of the Sumo Gold provides an excellent mileage of about 14.7 kmpl. The fuel efficiency is too good with a fuel tank capacity of about 65 litres. It is definitely maintaining good mileage and excellent pick up with the maximum speed of about 103kmph.
Tata Sumo Gold Interiors
The Sumo Gold comes with a lot of advanced features which improves the appearance of the car compared to its previous segment. The interiors of the car are very refined and the steering wheel is packed with the a soft leather which gives a classic look to the car and the silver console is sculpted in an excellent way along with neat dashboard. It consists of a center console with 12V socket which is easy to charge the electronic devices such as mobile phones and some other gadgets. The car has a door ajar warning option which is for preventing dangerous consequences and the power windows are tinted as an option. The length, width, height of the car is measured as 4258mm, 1700mm and 1925mm respectively. It has a ground clearance of about 190mm. Since the car has good length which helps nine members to be seated comfortably. The wheels of the car is bigger and wider with a massive framework which is 15 or 16 inch, 215 or 185mm wide with a tubeless radial tyres.
Braking, Handling and Safety Features
The Tata Sumo Gold features a disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear along with a 240mm hydraulic clutch assuring a smooth transmission. The front suspension is of double wishbone type with coil springs and anti roll bar while the rear suspension is of superior ride quality. The minimum turning radius of the car is about 4.9 m which indicates the handling control and operating efficiency. Really it is packed with many advanced safety features such as ABS, EBD etc. The defogger in the car helps in clearing the fog, seat belts with warning and door ajar warning with side intrusion beams ensures the complete safety. In addition, it has keyless entry and engine immobilizer. Totally it is best in safety.

Since two years, I am using the Tata Sumo Gold vehicle and its engine is really smooth, calm and it does not offer any irritating noise while shifting gear from 3rd or 4th. The pick up of the vehicle is also good above 90 kmph. The seating of the Sumo makes every body to feel very comfort. The car is good compared to scorpio in all aspects.
The exterior appearance of the Tata Sumo Gold has nothing great look and the performance of the car is also not so satisfactory. I think that the vehicle is not good for personal use for local driving and it is best suited for long journeys. It has clutch problem and suspension problem. Apart from this, sevice is very poor and Tata staffs are not well trained and they are not able to find out the problems. So, Tata Motors need to improve this section. Thanks..
Hi guys, My kind advice is not to prefer Tata Sumo Gold. Actually I am doing transport business and I have total 13 Sumo Gold vehicle but it is a horrible experience to have that vehicle. Because it has always created lot of problems. I am facing lot of problems such as brake pad, drum change, starting trouble, evaporation of coolant, meter assembly problem and many more. But if we took the vehicle to the service, the staffs are not able to find out the problems which is quite bad. I could not do anything with the Tata products. So I recommend everybody to go for any other brand.
I have bought a Tata Sumo Gold and I felt it is a good choice of selection. Because the interior space is very good and it is really a spacious SUV from Tata Motors. The engine of the vehicle is very powerful and it is easy to handle at any kind of roads. Talking about the mileage, it is too too fine with good comfort. We could improve our car interiors with some additional accessories. I felt that it is quite good for long hours travelling and it can accomodate ten persons easily. But sometimes, while moving at a higher level of speed I could not able to control the vehicle. Apart from that the suspension of the vehicle is good and it does not need more maintenance. Overall it is good to drive.
