Recently, Tata Motors has unveiled its new concept known as Tata Nexon at the Auto Expo 2016 which was held at Greater Noida. Not only this, the manufacturer has also showcased more products along with this car. In India, Tata Nexon is likely to be priced around Rs.6 lakh for the base variant and Rs.10 lakh for the higher end variant.
Tata Nexon Exteriors
Tata Nexon has been designed on the basis of modified X1 platform in which it would share several design elements along with features with the Zica hatchback. The manufacturer has worked rigorously in order to bestow its baby SUV with all contemporary design and styling elements. Some of the features which are bound to show up on final variant of Nexon include Diamond DLO, Slingshot Line and Humanity Line. This car would definitely make a strong appeal to its target customers with its excellent futuristic design and bold stance. It is found that some of the features has been borrowed from its similar other new cars like Zica, Zest and Bolt. The Nexon comes with an overall length of 3.9m, width of 1.73m and height of 1.6m along with a wheelbase of 2470mm. Its ground clearance is really high i.e over 200mm in which it is suited for all kinds of Indian road conditions. This Nexon SUV seems to be carrying a couple like profile with its signature enhancing strength and functionality. The front fascia of the car is enhanced with its attractive headlights with LEDs and DRLs. The roof line of the car bends sharply offering a look of the hatchback while the uplifted beltline offers it a crossover appearance. Moving to the rear section, the Nexon gets a conical shaped tail lights which is quite good. It has a 17 inch multi spoke alloy wheels with radial tyres ensuring smooth run even on poor road conditions. Additionally, the vehicle is expected to get a spare wheel kept under the floor instead of the tail mounted spare wheel.
Tata Nexon Interiors
Coming to the interior section of the new Tata Nexon, the vehicle looks very similar to the Zica hatchback but some of the features separate the car from it. It is well equipped with modern elements according to the future requirements. The front part of the car is enriched with a decent dashboard fitted with three spoke steering wheel with mounted controls and center console design. A full width instrument panel is offered for the car which is quite useful to read measurements. Features such as front and rear seating arrangements of 5 seat (2+3) configuration which is really comfy even for long hours of travelling. For better entertainment system, the Nexon could be provided with a new generation Harman Infotainment System with freestanding touch screen display on the dashboard. And it is well equipped with a wide array of comfort and connectivity features. Apart from that, the vehicle will have necessary consoles of an air conditioner unit, foldable rear seats, height adjustable driver seat. The seats get finely stitched leather upholstery offering superior comfort. Additionally, it has lot of storage space for holding large luggage in a safe manner.
Engine Specification
In India, the Tata Nexon will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options in which the petrol variant will have either by a 1.2 litre, 3 cylinders, turbocharged petrol or the new all-aluminium Revotron engine. If it gets 1.2 litre, it could be able to deliver high power of 83.8bhp and torque of 114Nm. Likewise, the diesel variant will feature a 1.3 litre Multijet diesel engine producing power close to 89bhp and 200Nm of torque. Both engines will be mated to a five speed manual transmission but it may get the F-Tronic Automated Manual Transmission for the diesel version. The fuel efficiency of the car will be good in which the petrol model is expected to deliver 18kmpl and 23kmpl for diesel model.
Brakes
The new Tata Nexon is expected to have ventilated disc brakes at both front and rear but the test mule is provided with standard wheels and front disc and rear drum brakes. It will be easy to handle with the braking system.
Verdict
This Nexon is kept between Safari Storm and Zest which is expected to be on sale by early 2017 with a tough competition against Ford Ecosport, Mahindra TUV300 and other cars in this segment.
