Tata GenX Nano Review

Tata Motors has recently launched its most awaited compact hatchback known as GenX Nano at an attractive price range of Rs.1.99-2.89 lakh respectively. This new vehicle is available in five different variants including XE, XM, XT, XMA (AMT) and XTA (AMT) in which the AMT is mated to the five speed gearbox while the manual gets coupled with the four speed gear box. It is offered with power steering along with good quality interiors which enhances the small car’s performance in the entry level segment.

Tata GenX Design

Tata GenX Nano looks very cute and pretty giving an appearance of a wide smile on a confident face with a completely refreshed design philosophy. This compact hatchback is well incorporated with multiple design cues offering a sporty attitude. Both front and rear bumpers are decorated with an infinity symbol motif grille along with decent interior features of first class color themes. It sports smoked headlamps with black bezel as well as big circular fog lamps for better visibility at night time riding. The rear ends with a tailgate spoiler which is quite impressive. This new GenX Nano boasts a new generation Tata Signature steering wheel looks very trendy.

Tata GenX Nano Performance

Tata GenX Nano is powered by a 624cc, 2 cylinder, gasoline, MPFI engine which churns out the maximum power of 38 PS at 5500 +/- 250 RPM and maximum torque of 51 Nm at 4000 +/- 500 RPM. The variants such as XE, XM and XT is mated to manual transmission where as XMA, XTA (Easy Shift) mated with Automated Manual Transmission fitted with Sports Mode and Creep feature which is quite good. On the other hand, GenX Nano of XE, XM and XT gets coupled with four speed gears and the others coupled with five speed gear box. This hatchback provides the driving comfort with an excellent fuel efficiency of 21.9 kmpl. The sports mode feature is available for better acceleration and creep feature is for easy parking of the vehicle and bumper to bumper traffic maneuverability. Even the GenX Nano is very small, it can be able to hold 24 litres of fuel tank assuring longer driving with the maximum speed of 105kmph.

Tata GenX Nano Comfort

Talking about the comfortness, Tata GenX Nano is really good with the crafted interiors and spacious cabin ensuring a joyful drive. The vehicle has an Electric Power Assisted Steering along with speed sensitivity and active return function. It has a spacious cabin which can hold four members comfortably with enough head room, shoulder room and leg room. The GenX Nano is well fitted with a best in class AC and it can hold 110L luggage space for the variants XE, XM and XT and 94L for the variants XMA, XTA (Easy Shift). In addition to all other comfortable features, it also has power windows at the front and keyless remote central locking which is really appreciable.

Tata Nano GenX Safety

Safety is not a problem in Tata GenX Nano because it comes with an advanced structural stability which offers a confident drive with complete peace of mind. The vehicle has an impact cushioning crumple zone and the reinforced body structure ensures frontal crash safety. For side crash protection, the hatchback consists of a robust side doors with intrusion beams. Addition to all, Tata GenX Nano comes with an Anti-roll bar for high speed stability. Both front and rear brakes are of drum type with an independent dual circuit, hydraulic brake operated by tandem master cylinder with vacuum booster which helps to halt the vehicle immediately once brakes are applied.

On the other hand, the suspension system also plays an important role in safety in which the front suspension is of independent, lower wishbone, McPherson struts with gas filled dampers and anti roll bar while the rear suspension is of independent semi trailing arm with coil spring and gas filled shock absorbers. Moving to the wheels and tyres section, the new hatchback has been designed with a tubeless tire of size 135/70 R 12 at the front and 155/65 R 12 at the rear with the spare tire size of 135/70 R 12 for better road performance. All the features ensures better safety and security to drivers, passengers and the vehicle.

Tata GenX Nano Connectivity

In order to enhance the entertainment system, the new GenX Nano is provided with an advanced digital information display and high quality AmphiStream music system which not only entertains the travelers but also gets updated with the performance of the vehicle while driving. This high end entertainment system includes Radio, CD, USB and AUX-in connectivity, Bluetooth for phone calls and music streaming, four speakers for surround sound effect. Similarly, the Digital information display includes trip meter, instantaneous fuel consumption, distance-to-empty, average fuel consumption and gear shift indicator.

Verdict

Compared with some other hatchbacks, Tata GenX Nano is a right choice for both city rides and highway rides with a spacious cabin packed with awesome necessary features appreciated by customers. But it does not offer good drive feel with the braking system which needs little improvement. Apart from that, Tata GenX Nano is considered to be an easy to use city car.
