Dimensions

The Tata Ace EX BS III has a pretty generous load area which has a 2140mm length and 1430mm width. It measures 3800mm in length, 1500mm in width and 1845mm in height and a wheelbase of 2100mm. It has a ground clearance of 175mm and a turning circle radius of 4.3mm.

Design and Style

It can accommodate upto 2 persons who can sit comfortably. Driver seat is pretty comfortable and it is suitable for persons who are 6 feet and above. A third person can sit cross legged between the driver and passenger behind the gear stick.

Engine Specification

Tata Ace EX mini truck is powered by the 4 stroke, indirect injection diesel engine. The model is TATA 275 IDI NA BS-III. The engine features 702cc engine displacement. It can churns out 16 hp @ 3200 rpm power and 3.8mkg @2000rpm torque output.

Braking and Handling

For the vehicle to stop you have to literally stop on the brakes. Tyres lock up pretty easily. Pumping the brakes helps in stopping the vehicle effectively. One does not need to worry about people rear-ending you, because if someone does that then you end up with 500-1000rs bill for tinkering while the other car ends up with 10 times that amount Since the ace is designed to carry heavy loads it has leafsprings on both ends. This coupled with high gc helps the ace handle bad roads very easily and unless the vehicle is fully loaded one does not need to worry about scraping the underbody while going over the car breakers present in our metros.

Drive ability

The first gear is only for moving the vehicle. Very short gear used mostly in crawling situations under full load. The vehicle can be moved from standstill in 2nd gear itself with minimum half clutching. The 3rd and 4th gears of the vehicles seem pretty long and 4th is strictly like an overdrive gear.

Verdict

Tata Ace EX BS III is a pretty big load carrying vehicle which can accommodate 2 passengers and a third one can sit cross legged between the driver and the other passenger near the gear stick. It can carry huge amount of load. It is a very helpful vehicle.
