Skoda has launched its new Octavia at an attractive price range of around Rs.16.2-20.8 lac. The Skoda Octavia comes in both petrol and diesel variants. The price details of all the variants are displayed below.

Skoda Octavia Exterior Styling

Talking about the external appearance, the sedan is really eye catching with its wide windscreen wipers at the front. The front grille offers an aggressive appearance with its vertically positioned slats with a thick chrome wrapping. The hood is well incorporated with a company logo which is quite good. The top end variant of the Octavia gets a bi-xenon headlamp with LED day time running lights where as the base and mid range variants are provided with powerful halogen headlamps and side turn indicators. Its body colored bumper has a wide air dam enabling better air intake and allows the engine to be very cool which is covered by a couple of fog lamps enhancing the visibility.

The side profile of the vehicle is well decorated with features like body colored door handles, ORVMS with side indicators, black finish b-pillars and chrome finish window sill. Considering the rear appearance, the vehicle has a radiant tail light cluster and body colored bumper which is quite outstanding. Apart from this, the curvy boot lid is fitted with a thick chrome slat and variant badging. The interior feature of the Skoda Octavia is also really impressive with its dual tone color combination of ivory and onyx color upholstery. The Active variant of the new car would have silver colored centre console and door trims where as the remaining variants has wooden finished center console and door trims. Moving to the dashboard, the car is well fitted with good features such as AC Vents, glove box with cooling effect, updated instrument panel and a leather wrapped steering wheel.

The sedan is available in both petrol and diesel engine options in which the petrol variant is powered by a 1.4 litre, turbocharged engine with the displacement of 1395cc. This petrol engine of the vehicle delivers the maximum power output of 138.08bhp at 4500-6000rpm with maximum torque of 250Nm at 1500-3500rpm which is paired to six speed manual transmission gear box. Skoda Octavia’s elegance trim is powered by a 1.8 litre petrol engine with a capacity of 1798cc churning out the peak power of 177.5bhp at 5100-5000rpm combines with the peak torque of 250Nm at 1250-5000rpm. This engine is mated to the seven speed DSG automatic transmission gear box with triptronic manual gear changing function. Similarly, the diesel variant of the Octavia is housed with a 2.0 litre engine which churns out the power of 141.04bhp at 4000rpm along with torque in the range of 1750-3000rpm. The manual Active and Ambition variant of the car are shared with a six speed manual gear box while the automatic trims Ambition or Elegance is paired to the six speed automatic transmission gear box which is really good.

Fuel Economy

Talking about the mileage, the Skoda Octavia offers an excellent mileage in which the 1.4 litre petrol variant can be able to deliver the maximum mileage of 16.8 kmpl on highways and 12.5 kmpl on city roads. Likewise, the 1.8 litre TSI turbocharged motor offers 14.7 kmpl on highways and 10 kmpl on city roads. The manual diesel variant of the car can churn out the mileage of around 20.6kmpl and the automatic variants could offer nearly 19.3kmpl driven at bigger roads.

Acceleration and Pick Up

Skoda Octavia offers a decent acceleration and pick up in which the diesel engine of the car gives the maximum speed of 210 kmph and it can reach 0-100kmph in just 12.5 seconds for six speed manual transmission gear box. The engine is mated with a six speed DSG transmission gear box offers the top speed of around 200 kmph which can take 11.07 seconds to cross 100km. The manual petrol versions of the Octavia can accelerate from 0-100kmph in just 10.98 seconds with the maximum speed of 210-220 kmph. Apart from other variants, the top speed provided by automatic petrol variants is nearly 225 kmph which can reach 100kmph in just 9.7 seconds.

Braking and Handling

The braking and handling of the Skoda Octavia is really good and it enhances the safety and security. This car is fitted with a vacuum assisted hydraulic dual diagonal circuit braking with dual rate system. Both front and rear wheels are fitted with disc brakes along with Anti Lock Braking System and Electronic Brake force Distribution. On the other hand, the front axle of the vehicle is fitted with a McPherson Strut with lower triangular bar links and torsion stabilizer while the rear axle gets compound link crank axle type of mechanism. The Elegance 1.8 TSI trim is well equipped with multi element axle along with one longitudinal and three transverse links with torsion stabilizer. Similarly, the Ambition and Elegance variants are equipped with anti slip regulation and electronic stability control for balancing the vehicle.
