Renault has recently launched its much awaited vehicle known an Kwid at an attractive price of Rs.2.56 lac. This newly launched Kwid is good at styling, pricing and fuel efficiency which would really attracts the buyers. In order to compete with its rival cars, it has a sporty all digit instrument cluster, high class touch screen infotainment system and a wide range of add-on accessories.

Design and Style

Exterior Measurements

The newly launched Renault Kwid has been designed with a length of 3679mm, width of 1579mm and height of 1478mm. Additionally, the vehicle provides the larger wheelbase of 2422mm and minimum ground clearance of 180mm.

Exterior Features

Renault Kwid comes with a stunning external appearance and sportive cosmetics which attracts the buyers of compact SUV. The front fascia has a black radiator grille with the company’s badge and an impressive headlight cluster with conventional halogen lamps on either sides of the vehicle. It sports a decent front bumper with muscular design with black lower cladding below it which is further enhanced by a pair of round shaped fog lamps. When it is talking about its side profile, it is decorated with window sills, door handles, rear view mirrors are painted in black. All the variants are incorporated with a set of 13 inch conventional steel wheels. Only the RXE variant comes in silver painted where as the other variants are in black finish. Black hub caps are offered only for base and mid range variants while the multi spoke covers are offered for the remaining variants. These rims are fitted with tubeless radial tyres of size 155/80 R13 and a spare wheel with some required tools in order to change a flat tire. Moving to the rear section, it gives a sporty and trendy hatchback look with large taillight cluster. The rear windscreen of the car comes with a concave design which is accompanied by a spoiler with a high mount third brake light. The company logo is provided at the center of the tailgate and ‘Kwid’ lettering is offered just below it.

Kwid Interior Features

Renault assures that the Kwid hatchback comes with a smart cabin with class leading space and utilities unlike others. The interiors are offered in dual tone color combination which is quite impressive. It has a simple design dashboard with different equipments and features. The seating is quite comfy for five passengers and its storage units include its dashboard, door panels, floor console, behind rear seat etc. The fuel tank storage capacity of the Kwid is around 28 litres with boot storage capacity 300 litres with the extended capacity up to 1115 litres. Since Renault Kwid enters into the market in four trims with an optional package for RXE and RXT. The base STD version comes with features such as floor console with two can holders, head rests for front seats, heater, door map storage with bottle holder and reclining front seat. Other variants are embedded with an air conditioning system and a lower glove box. The mid variant RXL consists of an electric power assisted steering, automatic on/off cabin lighting, passenger side sun visor and assist grips for passengers at the back. The top end variant RXT gets a four speed blower, five position air distribution facility, front power windows, on board trip computer, cabin lighting with timer, rear parcel tray.

Engine Specification

Renault Kwid is available in petrol engines in which it is powered by a 3-cylinderd 0.8 petrol mill which produces the displacement of about 799cc. This powerful engine churns out the maximum power output of 53.26bhp at 5678rpm and maximum torque output of 72Nm at 4386rpm. It is coupled with a five speed manual transmission gearbox for excellent engine performance.

Mileage

Renault Kwid is fitted with a multi point fuel injection system for excellent fuel efficiency and power generation. This engine motor could be able to deliver an attractive mileage of around 25.17 kmpl with the total body weight of just 660 kgs.

Acceleration and Pick Up

The pick up and acceleration of the Renault Kwid is quite satisfactory in which it can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 17 seconds with the maximum speed of about 125 kmph.

Braking and Handling

Renault Kwid comes with a proficient braking and suspension system irrespective of road conditions. The front wheels are incorporated with disc brakes and rear wheels are having drum brakes for sudden braking. It also has an electric power assisted steering system which is good for handling the vehicle. When it is talking about the suspension system, the front axle is equipped with a McPherson strut with lower transverse link and the rear axle has a twist beam along with coil spring which gives a smooth and jerk free driving.

Security Features

Safety is an important aspect in a vehicle in which the new Kwid is offered with exciting safety features ensuring good safety to both driver and co-passengers as well as to the vehicle. The higher end variant is fitted with a central locking system and driver airbag is an optional feature in RXT variant. The seat belts are provided for all the occupants which is useful in the event of an impact. For better visibility during night time travel, the car has fog lamp. Addition to all of the above, the vehicle has some important feature such as high mount stop lamp, warning triangle, robust body structure with crumple zones etc. All these features altogether enhances the safety and level of security.
