Exteriors Features

Seeing the exterior appearance of the new Renault Koleos SUV is really stunning with dazzling appearance having a glossy finishing to its body. It comes in three attractive color shades in which the front fascia is decorated with projector headlamps for better visibility of the car. It has a pair of roof rails with a rear spoiler enhancing the SUV a modern look and improves the overall image of the car. On either sides of the front grille, the fog lamps are provided for additional lighting and enhance the stylish appearance too. Moving to the side profile, it is fitted with a set of alloy wheels of 17 inch size of tubeless type tire 225/60 R17 which can slide and sledge through any obstacle. In addition, the car gets a full size spare wheel as a standard features in all variants. It is well embedded with attractive door handles and outside rear view mirrors of body colored. For higher end variants, they are given in chrome based door handles and orvms with LED turn indicators. The rear is incorporated with a split design tailgate which has two doors for lifting upward and downwards. Along with that, the vehicle has large windscreens fitted with wipers. Interior Features

The interior of Renault Koleos is well integrated with lot of comfortable features which offers enough comfort for all the passengers and driver. The base variants are covered with black fabric offering a classy look to the interiors while the top end variants are wrapped with premium beige leather upholstery for rich look to the vehicle. For better convenience to the driver, the seat is provided with lumbar support for positioning. The cabin is very cool with an air conditioning unit along with a dual zone function to it in which the AC vents are kept all over the cabin. The rear seat of the vehicle comes with a 60:40 split facility which is quite good to keep more baggage when needed. Some audio controls are mounted on to the steering wheel for better convenience. The dashboard of the car gets an advanced instrument cluster with multiple notifications for driver’s assistance. Apart from the above, the base variant has Arkamys while the other variants are blessed with superior quality Bose music system. Koleos Engine Specification

The engine performance of the new Renault Koleos is really appreciable in which it is powered by a 2.2 litre, dCi M9R diesel engine with a displacement capacity fo 1995cc. Its two wheel drive version generates the maximum power of 148bhp at 4000rpm along with maximum torque of 320Nm at 2000rpm. Both manual and automatic four wheel drive versions delivers a peak power of 170.6bhp at 3750rpm and peak torque of 360Nm at 2000rpm. The entry level and mid range variants are mated to a six speed manual gearbox where as the top end variants are fitted with an advanced six speed automatic transmission gearbox. This engine gets four cylinders and sixteen valves based on dual overhead camshaft valve configurations for better engine performance.

Acceleration, Pick Up and Fuel Efficiency

The variant with automatic transmission gearbox could be able to reach the maximum speed of about 180 kmph and it could accelerate from 0-100 kmph mark in just about 11.9 seconds. The manual transmission with two wheel drive mechanism can break the barrier of 100 kmph in just 11.5 seconds while the four wheel drive trim reaches it in just 9.9 seconds. When it is talking about the fuel efficiency of the car, the automatic trim of the car with 4WD drive mechanism delivers the mileage of about 14.56 kmpl while the 4WD manual trim gives the fuel efficiency of 16.26 kmpl. Similarly, the vehicle with manual two wheel drive variant is capable of generating the fuel efficiency of 17.15 kmpl which is quite impressive.

Braking and Handling

Talking about the braking and suspension system, the Koleos is really good. Both front and rear wheels are fitted with efficient disc brakes which help to halt the vehicle irrespective of the road conditions. Further, it is enhanced by an advanced anti lock braking system and an electronic brake force distribution for all trims ensuring better braking efficiency. An electronic stability program gives an added control over the drive. Along with that, a hill start and hill descent assist functions are also offered for the vehicle. Moving to the suspension system, the Koleos is blessed with a superior suspension in which the front axle has McPherson Strut and multi link type at the rear axle.

The Koleos has both advantages and disadvantages in which it is loaded with multiple advanced safety features and excellent entertainment system. External appearance is really appreciable with enough interior space. Talking about the mileage, Koleos is awesome. But it has some drawbacks including limited color options, lacking of safety features in base variant, missing leather upholstery in the base trim, limited indications on the instrument panel etc.

Verdict

Renault offers the Koleos with excellent styling, stunning engine performance and road performance which is really good for both city ride and highway roads. It is a good mile muncher because of its fantastic ride quality and good dynamics.
