Maruti Stingray Diesel Review

Maruti Suzuki has decided to launch its much awaited diesel car known as Stingray Diesel at the upcoming Auto Expo Event, 2014. The new car will come with sporty, refined exteriors and good interiors in a reasonable price tag of approximately Rs.5 lakh.

Engine Details and Performance

The new Stingray Diesel will be equipped with a twin-cylinder, turbo diesel engine generating the displacement very close to 800 cc. The diesel engine will produce the maximum power output of 55 BHP which is quite outstanding. It ensures excellent performance in terms of its power, torque, mileage, acceleration and pick up.

Even though the Stingray comes with small diesel engine, the car can be able to deliver the mileage of about 25 kmpl on both city roads and highways. The Wagon R diesel engine will contribute for an enhanced acceleration and pick up offering good driving dynamics. There will be a drawback that the mileage of the car would be little lesser while driving within the peak city traffic but the fuel economy is quite outstanding compared with other cars.

Interiors and Exteriors

The interior features are also some what similar to its previous Wagon R car which with a lot of exciting features. The new car will come with a decent and stylish dashboard powered by a lot of utility features such as air conditioning unit with vents, glove box compartment, advanced music system with USB input and Aux-In port, other control switches etc. The dashboard also gets a central console of silver ascents gives an elegant appearance to the cabin. It will hold a three spoke power steering wheel with mounted audio control switches. Apart from that, the dashboard has cup holders, silver ascents door handles, AC vents surround, gearshift lever enhances the convenience inside the vehicle. The car will be provided with comfortable seating arrangements wrapped in 3D effect premium fabric upholstery with the car theme. The door trims are also getting the same fabric upholstery with dual tone combination of matte black and a gloss black finish. The bottle holders and speakers are also placed in the door which helps to keep some small things too. The spacious vehicle will be sported with enough legroom, head room, shoulder room etc. which makes to feel very comfy.

The Stingray Diesel will get new trendy exteriors with some drastic changes over the previous Wagon R. The body panel of the car looks more refreshing and sportier than many other cars. The front fascia of the Maruti Stingray Diesel will have a boxy and sporty design which would definitely attracts the hearts of the car enthusiasts. It will be provided with a beautiful headlight cluster which looks very aggressive with the projector style lamps and stylish radiator grille with chrome finishes. The bonnet too has been changed and the front bumpers will be incorporated with a pair of fog lamps looks larger and classy. While talking about the side profile of the car, it enhances the exterior appearances with stylish alloy wheels. The car will be furnished with a sturdy and robust set of wheels with decently carved out wheel arches. The car will hold a body coloured door handles and an external rear view mirrors. The rear part of the vehicle will get a chrome finished tail lamp cluster and the chrome strip on the boot lid with stingray badging. It has a wide windshield at the rear with the defogger as well as a wash and wipes function. In addition, the rear has a spoiler and high mounted stop lamp which will give a complete look. The external measurements of the car includes a length of about 3636 mm, width of 1475 mm and height of 1670 mm respectively. On the other hand, the car will provide a wheelbase of 2400 mm, ground clearance of 165 mm and turning radius of about 4.6 meters.

Braking and Handling

The Maruti Stingray will be incorporated with a conventional and advanced braking system suitable in all weather and road conditions. The front wheels of the car will be blessed with the ventilated disc brakes while the rear wheels will have drum brakes and further enhanced with the Anti Lock Braking System. At the same time, the front axle of the car will be equipped with McPherson Strut type with coil spring where as the rear axle will come with an isolated trailing link with a coil spring. This braking and handling features helps to avoid the risk of skidding on roads and improves the safety level of the car. The new car will come with a 14" alloy wheel of tyre size 155/65 R14 which will be really good and it helps from unwanted skidding.

Safety Features

The Stingray Diesel will be packed with lot of safety features along with superior handling aspects. The car will have a power steering of tilt adjustable which is very helpful even in heavy traffic situations and offers easy driving. The safety features of the car includes ABS, a bright and powerful halogen headlamps, fog lamps, side impact beams, a collapsible steering column, seat belts for all, a driver airbag, central locking system, child safety locks, a day and night rear view mirror etc. All these features will make the journey very comfortable, pleasurable and safest one.
