Maruti Suzuki has launched its much awaited car known as Wagon R Stingray in an attractive price tag of approximately Rs.4.10 lakh. The new car comes with sporty, refined exteriors and good interiors in a reasonable price tag.

Engine Details of Maruti Wagon R Stingray

The engine of the newly launched hatchback is similar to the Wagon R car which ensures excellent power, mileage and performance. It is powered by a 1.0 litre K series petrol mill three cylinder which gives a displacement of about 998cc. The engine has multi point fuel injection system delivering peak power of about 67.1 BHP @ 6200 RPM and peak torque of about 90 NM @ 3500 RPM. The engine is mated with a proficient five speed manual transmission gearbox and it is helpful for the city driving conditions and on highways also.

Acceleration, Mileage and Fuel Economy

Even though the Stingray comes with small engine, it has the capability to cross the barrier of 0-100 kmph in just 15.9 seconds. The car can be able to reach the maximum speed of about 120 kmph which is quite good. The Wagon R engine contributes for enhanced acceleration and pick up offering good driving dynamics. The five speed manual transmission gearbox ensures better mileage and the engine generates a healthy mileage of about 20.51 kmpl while driving under standard conditions. There is a drawback that the mileage of the car would be little lesser while driving within the peak city traffic but the fuel economy is quite outstanding compared with other cars.

Design and comfort

The interior features are also some what similar to its previous Wagon R car which with a lot of exciting features. The car comes with a decent and stylish dashboard powered by a lot of utility features such as air conditioning unit with vents, glove box compartment, advanced music system with USB input and Aux-In port, other control switches etc. The dashboard also gets a central console of silver ascents gives an elegant appearance to the cabin. It holds a three spoke power steering wheel with mounted audio control switches. Apart from that, the dashboard has cup holders, silver ascents door handles, AC vents surround, gearshift lever enhances the convenience inside the vehicle. The car is available with comfortable seating arrangements wrapped in 3D effect premium fabric upholstery with the car theme. The door trims are also getting the same fabric upholstery with dual tone combination of matte black and a gloss black finish. The bottle holders and speakers are also placed in the doors which helps to keep some small things too. The hatchback is very spacious with enough legroom, head room, shoulder room etc which makes to feel very comfy. In addition to all, it has power windows, internally adjustable external rear view mirrors, door arm rest, a 12V power socket for accessories etc. This five seating hatchback comes with 180 litres of boot storage capacity with the foldable rear seat. All these features makes the journey very comfortable and relaxable.

Exteriors

The Stingray gets a new trendy exteriors with some drastic changes over the previous Wagon R. The body panel of the car looks more refreshing and more sportier than many hatches. The front fascia of the Maruti Stingray has a boxy and sporty design which would definitely attracts the hearts of the car enthusiasts. It has a beautiful headlight cluster which looks very aggressive with the projector style lamps and stylish radiator grille with chrome finishes. The bonnet too has been changed and the front bumpers incorporated with a pair of fog lamps looks larger and classy. There is a larger air dam for the intake of air for quicker engine cooling. While talking about the side profile of the car, it enhances the exterior appearances with stylish alloy wheels. The car comes with a sturdy and robust set of wheels with decently carved out wheel arches. The top end variants of the car is bestowed with a stylish set of 14 inch alloy wheels of tubeless radial tyres with a size of 155/65 R14 which gives an excellent grip on the roads. Similarly, the base level variant comes with a 14 inch alloy wheels with the same set of tyres. It also has a full size spare wheel placed in the boot compartment with some other needed tools. The car holds a body coloured door handles and an external rear view mirrors. The rear part of the vehicle ges a chrome finished tail lamp cluster and the chrome strip on the boot lid with stingray badging. The company logo fitted looks very bold and stunning. It has a wide windshield at the rear with the defogger as well as a wash and wipe function. In addition, the rear has a spoiler and high mounted stop lamp which gives a complete look. The external measurements includes a length of about 3636 mm, width of 1475 mm and height of 1670 mm respectively. On the other hand, the car comes with a wheelbase of 2400 mm, ground clearance of 165 m and turning radius of about 4.6 meters.

Braking and Handling

The Maruti Wagon R Stingray is provided with a conventional and advanced braking system suitable in all weather and road conditions. The front wheels of the car is blessed with the ventilated disc brakes while the rear wheels have drum brakes and further enhanced with the Anti Lock Braking System for the high end variants. At the same time, the front axle of the car is equipped with McPherson Strut type with coil spring where as the rear axle comes with an isolated trailing link with a coil spring. This braking and handling features avoids the risk of skidding on roads and improves the safety level of the car.

Safety Features

The new hatchback is packed with lot of safety features along with superior handling aspects. The car has a power steering of tilt adjustable which is very helpful even in heavy traffic situations and offers easy driving.
