Maruti Suzuki,pioneer in the car production launched its new mid-sedan named "Ciaz"starting at the price range of Rs 6.99 lakhs that extends up to Rs9.8 lakhs(ex-showroom,Delhi).It is the first sedan that gets equipped with AMT.Regarding the engine options,both petrol and diesel variants have been provided.The petrol varaints are VXi,VXi+,ZXi,ZXi+,whereas VDi,VDi+,ZDi and ZDi+ comes under the diesel hood.Besides,the automatic variants like VXi Automatic and ZXi Automatic have also been added.The price details are as follows

Exterior styling:
It gets its family look that is small, three-slat rectangular grille said to reflect its conservative styling.The side profile looks somewhat good. The projector headlamps and large rectangular tail-lights add a little bit spicy to the pleasing appeal. Ciaz , sitting on the 16" alloy wheels gives us a vision that it belongs to the higher segment. Thanks to the chrome finished door handles and rear boot lid that give the Ciaz a premium touch. Even the sheer size adds its accountability in bringing the handsomeness. Such a well-proportionate appeal the Ciaz is going to give us.
Interior design:
When getting into the cabin, the dashboard impresses us with its simple lines and uncluttered look. Also,it is being built with
best-in-class quality plastic that is ever seen before even with its predecessors.Fit and finish is also found to be very well executed.The dashboard said to comprise of large infotainment system.It is completely a
7-inch touchscreen enabled with user-friendly interface, in a way that the dials are easy-to-read.Futher usage of chrome surrounded buttons makes one feel plush. Even the wood-finish accents work quite well.
The most aspiring thing comes with the
spacious cabin that is to be complimented.The reason is the earlier sedan of Maruti are usually cramped cabins,while Ciaz is entirely different from that of its earlier lineup by making itself associated with the most spacious mid-size car.That can be felt in the presence of glass area and light interiors. The back seat has ample space for legroom, thus wide enough to accomodate three adults. Also there is a spacious storage cubbies to hold on 1-litre bottle for four passengers. Though the glove box is not so big, it gets compensated by the 510 litre boot that would accomodate upto four big bags. However, there is no much space found with the rear seats.
The main thing to be noted is that the aforementioned feature SmartPlay Infotainment and 16" inch alloys are available only with the
Z+ versions. It would be better if the drivers have offered with passenger airbags for safety concerns.
Engine and Performance:
There are two engine options
1.4 litre K-series petrol trim and 1.3 litre diesel motor. When you consider the case of 1.4 litre K-series motor, starting from
Ertiga, till now it is powering up the Ciaz sedan. then what difference does the engine makes in power supply. In Ciaz, the engine has been tuned up to some extent thus developing
89 bhp which is more enough to make one's everyday driving normal at moderate speeds.Even it pokes you to keep you ahead of traffic. Result of tuning further ends up with a higher compression ratio ,better throttle response due to tweaked ECU and lower frictional losses.The uniform power delivery gets distributed while driving at normal speeds. Once you accelerate at the top speed 5,200rpm limits. Until there's a strong kick,you might feel the hesitation that lasts till 1800rpm.
You can find the same result in the case of 1.3 litre diesel unit which has improved a lot from that of its working in Ertiga.The reason the
turbo-lag that is found in the case of Ertiga is absent in case of Ciaz. Thus the engine is tuned up in a way to lower the frictional losses and low-response.
Riding and Handling:
The area that is to be praised is the
riding dynamics. With the brilliant suspension setup on can feel better in a straight line and especially at lower speeds Ciaz absorbs the broken patches,thus it proves to be the best in any driving condition. On highways, it’s not a surprise that it makes one feel well-planted and secure, thus allowing you to cruise effortlessly at some serious speeds.
Though the sedan seems to be large in size due to its kerb weight of
1105kg for petrol and diesel versions, it is going to be very light while handling .The new chassis that is being constructed with high-tensile steel contribute its part in not only giving light weightedness but also the rigidity to the body of the Ciaz.
Verdict:
For the persons who are looking for the cars that offers them comfortable ,well-equipped and easy-to drive facilities, Ciaz would be the best choice.We expect that it would arrive at a high maintenance cost.
