Maruti A Star Engine details
The A Star is the first car which comes with KB Series engine meeting with new emission norms (BS-IV) as well as Euro 4 and Euro 5. The car is powered by a 998cc, three cylinder, 12 valve,KB series engine which delivers the peak power of 67 PS @ 6200 RPM and maximum torque of about 90 NM @ 3500 RPM. The engine is mated with five speed manual transmission and four speed automatic transmission only in LXi variant. The KB series engine is codenamed as KB10 and it is one of the most fuel efficient and eco friendly engine. This high performance engine is designed in order to reduce emission, engine noise, vibration and harshness.
Acceleration, Mileage and Fuel Economy
The DOHC engine of the A Star can be able to touch 0-100 kmph in just 17.5 seconds with the maximum speed of about 140 kmph. But once it reaches the speed of 125 kmph, the vehicle begins shaking or vibrating and if it runs below the speed the car is going smooth as butter. While talking about the mileage, the car generates a mileage of about 18.9 kmpl on highway roads and 14.6 kmpl in the city roads. If the transmission is automatic, the mileage is nearly 17 kmpl. Since the engine is made up of light weight aluminum powertrain which ensures better combustion of every drop of fuel.

The company claims that the interiors of the A Star would definitely impress the people and make them feel very comfortable. While opening the door, people can be able to stunned with the neat designed dashboard with clear instrument panel. It comes with the dual tone interior combination of grey and beige which gives a rich look to the car. There is a lot of storage spaces for storing all things and the front headrest, rear split seats are also available. For more comfort, useful and handy cubby holes, bottle holders are provided. The dashboard has crimson illuminated meter console, tachometer, funky AC vents at both ends and centrally placed twin ducts, audio system, AC controls, parking light, cigarette lighter etc for better convenience. The dashboard is provided with three spoke power steering wheel for better controlling of the vehicle. The needle punch floor carpet is common to all variants of the Maruti A Star. It holds an adjustable driver seat with seat belts which is easy for the driver as per his wish. Some other interior features includes accessory socket, key off reminder, vanity mirrors, ashtray, door ajar warning light, sun visor with ticket holder, three position cabin lights, assist grip for all, rear luggage shelf and many more. Some features are available only with higher end variants. The A Star is very comfortable in which four to five members can take their seat without any trouble. The seating arrangements are too good with ample legroom, headroom and shoulder room. Since the car comes with automatic gearbox helps in changing gears unnecessarily. Additional comfortable features such as remote controlled door locks, central door lock, boot lid opener, fuel lid opener, front and rear electronic power windows, glove box, rear parcel tray, outside mirrors etc.

The exteriors of the A Star is very impressive and eye-catchy with its aerodynamic design. It offers a sportive appearance to the vehicle from the front to rear. The exteriors are refined and well crafted with components which is painted in body colour. The front part of the car is bestowed with frog eye-shaped extended headlamps, wide open shaped grille slot and small leaf shaped fog lamp slot. The bonnet is very compact with broad swept nose design and the front windscreen is equipped with an intermittent wiper and washers. The turning lights are very small and it is very helpful while turning in busy streets. It holds an adjustable ORVMs and body coloured door handles which improves the sporty and stylish look of the car. The rear side of the Maruti A Star is quite impressive with features such as vertically placed taillight, boot lid, compact rear windscreen, body coloured bumpers. The higher end variants of th car comes with new alloy wheels. A Star AT has 13 inch long wheels with the tire size of 155/80 R13. While Maruti A Star LXi comes with centre cap type wheel covers whereas the remaining variants comes with full wheel cover. The A Star is provided with the high mounted brake light which offers clear signal to the drivers. The door opening of the car is very large and it is very easy to enter and exit without any hurdle. Not only the front, but also the side profile of the Maruti A Star is good and overall, it is very muscular and aerodynamic.
Braking and Handling
Maruti A Star is well integrated with the ventilated disc brakes at the front wheels and drum brakes at the rear. This type of braking system assures excellent safety as well as perfect handling. It holds an advanced braking system known as Anti Lock Braking System along with EBD which is quite good. The suspension system of the car comes with the combination of latest forks at each end. The front suspension of the car is of McPherson Strut with coil spring while the rear is of an isolated trailing link with coil springs. These are well known for its smooth journey even on bad roads and it results in super stability on road while moving. The braking and suspension system of the A Star ensures higher ground clearance and turning radius.

The car comes with a lot of safety features which includes ABS with EBD, dual air bags, engine immobilizer, security system, rear window defogger, child proof rear door locks, high mounted stop lamp, head light leveling, front intermittent wiper and washer, front seat belt pre-tensioners, force limiters, RR CTR etc. Some features are available only on the top end variant and others are available on base variant.
