Maruti Alto 800 Review

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer has recently launched its new Alto 800 with an attractive price tag. Maruti has performed its best in the grounds of mileage, power and safety too. The car would be a toughest competitor to some other cars such as Hyundai Eon, Chevrolet Beat etc. The cost of metallic paint and non metallic paint may vary. The car is believed to be very worthy with lot of exciting features.

Engine of Maruti Alto 800

Maruti’s Engine is well known for its excellent performance, power and torque. The Alto 800 is powered with a proficient F8D, 3-cylinder, 12-valve, 796 cc engine which churns out the maximum power of 47.5 BHP @ 6000 RPM and peak torque of 69 NM @ 3500 RPM. The engine option for petrol and CNG are nearly same along with its power and torque. The engine of Alto 800 comes in five speed manual transmission gearbox which ensures smooth gearshift.

Acceleration, Mileage and Fuel Economy

The acceleration and pick of Alto 800 is quite good in which the petrol version of the car can be able to cross the barrier of 0-100 kmph in just 15 to 16 seconds where as the CNG models of the car can touch 0-100 kmph in just 17 to 18 seconds. Design and Engineering

Maruti Alto 800 comes as a package of both good and bad features. But mostly all the features are good but only the space is not so sufficient compared to its competitive cars. The Alto 800 is a five seating car with enough leg room, knee room, head room, shoulder room etc but it is not upto the satisfactory level. The car gets a three spoke steering wheel with a sporty metallic touch and a new instrument panel stroked with silver. There is a smartly restyled dashboard in grey colour and headrests for the front row seats which enables us to feel more comfortable. The dash looks so decent fitted with a nicely shaped air-conditioner blowers, a large glove box, a central console carrying controls for the AC unit and sockets for installing a music system. The quality of the materials are too good and interiors are designed with a dual grey and brown tones or a single shade of grey. It features a very good quality of upholstery which runs over the seats and goes up to the door pads as well offering uniformity to the car. There is enough storage spaces to keep the things very safely for the convenience of the passengers. The dashboard has some open space in the front which is useful for carrying holders for small articles, bottle holder near the gear-knob. Some other interior features of Alto 800 includes three assist grips for the passengers, a coin holder, a one litre bottle holder, passenger side utility pocket, a can holder, a digital clock in the speedometer display etc. In addition to all, it has an internally adjustable outside rear view mirror, a cabin light with three adjustable positions for better and brighter illumination.

Maruti Alto 800 Exteriors

Maruti Alto 800 comes with impressive exteriors which makes everybody to stare at the vehicle. The car looks very stylish and royal and it is somewhat similar to the Alto car. The length of the car is measured as 3395 mm while the width and height are measured as 1490 mm and 1475 mm respectively. The overall dimensions of the hatchback is quite pretty. The front fasica of the car boasts a split front grille in which the lower part is a black trapezoid and the upper is a slim cut lined with chrome. It consists of a large leaf like headlamps along with turn indicators and it gets a body-toned bumper where as the large windscreen comes with toughened glass as well as a couple of intermittent wipers. The curves and cuts of the car shows its boldness and power. The car gets a rear view mirror only for the driver’s end and the door handles have been averagely designed which is also in the same shade as the body colour. The side profile of the car looks so gorgeous and masculine. The Alto 800 is fitted with 145/80 R12 tubeless tyres with freshly restyled wheels adding more style to the car. The tubeless tyre is very helpful and it ensures troubling situations like those of flat tyres. The tire is of radial tubeless tyres providing superior road grip for better braking and safety. The one half of the rear end of the car comes with an elegant, large and laminated windscreen and the other half comes with a smooth boot lid. There is a classy tail lamp indicator cluster with the blending of bright and radiant lamps. Overall, the exteriors are too good and neat.

Braking, Handling and Safety Features

The braking and handling of Alto 800 has been improved than its previous car. The front wheels of the car is of disc brakes and drum brakes for the rear wheels. The Alto 800 does not have an advanced braking technology such as Anti Lock Braking System with Electronic Brake force Distribution but simple braking system available is quite good. The handling of the car is too good in which the car possess a gas-filled McPherson Strut coupled with a torsion roll control device for the front suspension system while the rear suspension system is of a coil spring mechanism with gas-filled shock absorbers with three link rigid axle and isolated trailing arm. An efficient braking, suspension system and handling system ensures better safety and security. The safety features includes seat belts for all the passengers, a combo of Disc-Drum brakes etc.
