Mahindra Maxximo
Mahindra & Mahindra, the leading player in India's small commercial vehicle segment, has introduced the Maxximo in India. The Maxximo is the world's first mini-truck powered by a 2-cylinder CRDe engine with DOHC technology and 4-valves per cylinder.
A game-changer offering, the Maxximo combines best in class technology, unmatched performance and superior style and comfort. The Maxximo is the first product to roll out from Mahindra's state-of-the-art Chakan plant. The detailed explanation of this truck is given as follows.
Color options
Maxximo comes in four attractive and youthful shades. They are given below:
1) Appy Red
2) Diamond White
3) Sunny Yellow
4) Leaf Green
Dimensions
The mini truck has a pretty generous load area which has a 2280mm length and 1540mm width. It measures 3800mm in length, 1540mm in width and 1840mm in height and a wheelbase of 1900mm. It has a turning circle radius of 950mm.
Design and Style
The Mahindra Maxximo has a cool exterior with trendy front grille that adds a stylish look to the truck. The front fascia is further highlighted with wrap-around headlamps that flank the front grill with multi-focal reflectors that provide improved visibility at night.
Coming to the inside of the Maxximo, it flaunts a car-like interior in beige and tan. The cabin is cozy with the two-tone seats that come with headrests. These seats are more comfortable with better support. It has a bench seat for the co-driver with no obstruction between driver and co-driver seat. The well-designed beige-coloured instrument panel boasts of a stylish cluster with a digital odometer, double trip meter and an integrated clock. The cabin is quite big with maximum legroom and knee room that permits a hassle-free entry and exit. The footstep for the cargo body, windshield wiper with intermittent function and inbuilt spray system, mobile charging facility and dual-mounted sun visor add to the overall convenience. The ergonomic hand brake position, dead pedal, steering wheel made of soft-touch, strong-grip material, bigger rear-window and larger windshield enhance the Maxximo's driving pleasure.
The Maxximo meets stringent frontal crash impact norms with a frontal crash protector. It is also equipped with a drive-by-wire accelerator system for safer overtaking, LSPV (Load Sensing Proportionate Valve) brakes and the booster to improve brake-effectiveness while reducing driver fatigue.
Engine Specification
The Mahindra Maxximo is powered by a 0.9L 2CY CRDe diesel engine. The engine is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission for crisp shifting of gears. The diesel engine is low on fuel consumption as it can run 20 kmpl and is BS-III compliant. This CRDe engine can churn about 25 bhp of power and 55 Nm of torque.
The Maxximo is a trendsetting, stylized vehicle in the fast-growing small load category segment. The Maxximo is equipped with superior load carrying capacity of 850 kg payload. This mini-truck is low on maintenance cost and in economical operational costs too.
Braking and handling
The Mahindra Maxximo is a sturdy truck which is built on leaf spring suspension at the rear with 6-leaves along with thicker (3.6 mm) wheel rims. Moreover, the McPherson strut with coil spring at the rear front imparts a smooth ride. The Maxximo rides on 12-inch radial tube type tyres.
The brakes are predictable and solid. Again, considering what this car is and what it's designed for, it's not bad at all. It's a little bouncy, sure, and the springs seem more tuned for durability and forgiveness of bad roads than comfort, but the end result is decent. One could take long trips in the Maxximo and will not feel like they spent six hours in a rock tumbler.
This may be the biggest surprise about the Maxximo: it handles much better than it's bread-load shape would suggest. I think that's mostly due to engine location: mid-mounted, and low, under the driver's seat. That keeps the center of gravity quite low, and keeps the van from feeling top-heavy.
Verdict
It is a sturdy truck which can carry limited amount of weight. It is available in reasonable amount to the customers. Even in the bad road condition, it gives the customers a comfortable ride. Thus it is a medium sized decent truck which gives enough facilities for the customers.
