Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M & M Ltd.), India’s leading SUV manufacturer, today announced the launch of the CNG variant of its successful next generation mini truck, the Maxximo. Developed to cater to the evolving needs of transporters, captive segment buyers and corporate segment buyers, the Maxximo CNG promises to keep its owner ahead of others due to a better value proposition. Launched at a price of Rs. 3.99 Lac (Ex-showroom, BSIV, Delhi), the Maxximo CNG’s 25.6 HP (18.4 Kw) engine gives a mileage of 19 km/litre on an average. This along with a low maintenance cost means that Maxximo CNG’s operating cost / km / ton is significantly lower than its nearest competitor.

Dimensions

The Mahindra Alfa Plus has a pretty generous load area which has a 2275mm length and 1540mm width. It measures 3800mm in length, 1540mm in width and 1900mm in height and a wheelbase of 1840mm. It has a ground clearance of 175mm and a turning circle radius of 3800mm.

Design and Style

Addressing the demands of driver & owner alike, the Maxximo CNG comes with bigger, more comfortable seats with better support and head rests that make the journey more pleasant especially over long distances. A bench seat for the co-driver, with no obstruction between his seat and the driver’s seat allows the latter to lie down across the seats, adding to the comfort factor. A cable-operated gear shift, as opposed to the regular, rod-operated gear shift found in other mini trucks, provides a smoother, car-like shift-quality involving less effort.

A footstep for the cargo body, windshield wipers with intermittent function, an inbuilt spray system and a 12 Volt charging facility add to the overall convenience. Given that the modern mini-truck buyer sees his vehicle as an extension of his personality, the Maxximo CNG has been designed to allow its owner to express his sense of style. It sports futuristic clear-lens wraparound headlamps with multi-focal reflectors, as compared to the simple, round headlamps found on its nearest competitor. This also provides the driver with greater visibility at night. The accent on style extends to the interiors with a well-designed instrument panel with integrated glove box and a stylish cluster with a digital clock and trip meter. The vehicle also features beige and tan dual-tone interiors, similar to those found in cars.

Engine Specification

Mahindra Maxximo CNG Mini Truck Powered by the 4 Stroke Spark Ignition, water cooled engine. The engine features 909cc engine displacement. It can churns out 18.8 kW / 25.6 HP @ 3600 rpm power and 57 Nm / 5.8 Kgm @ 1600-2000 rpm torque on ride. The engine mated with 4 speed – Manual gears transmission for a smooth ride.

Braking and Handling

The CNG truck offers 35sq.ft. (3.23sq.mt.) loading Body Platform Area. It weights 750kg payload & 1840mm wheelbase. The Mahindra Maxximo CNG Mini Truck equipped with a Manual Steering with Rack & Pinion. For safety it is fitted with Front-McPherson Independent Suspension, Disc brakes in front and rear Drum brakes too. The Maxximo CNG is the safest vehicle in its class with a frontal crash protector, which allows it to meet stringent frontal crash impact norms (AIS 029, for N1 category of vehicles). In a first for the segment, the Maxximo CNG features booster-assisted brakes with a Load Sensing Proportioning Valve which ensure greater control while braking and reduces pedal-effort for a more fatigue-free drive. A cut-off switch ensures that the engine cannot be cranked while refueling and the fire extinguisher is conveniently placed for quick access during an emergency. With only 7 joints in the gas-piping system, the chances of gas-leakage are fewer, making the Maxximo CNG safer.
