Mahindra KUV100 Review

One of the leading four wheeler manufacturer Mahindra has launched its most awaited Sports Utility Vehicle KUV100 which is positioned just below the TUV300 at an attractive price tag. The company has offered the vehicle in both petrol and diesel engines in various trims. Mahindra KUV100 will definitely compete with its similar other cars such as Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and Maruti Dzire.

Mahindra KUV100 Exteriors

The young SUV Mahindra KUV100 looks very cool and trendy with its very lean radiator grille with chrome finished fillets placed vertically. The front is well decorated with a pulled back head lamps which is wider from front and get tapered towards the end covering the hood length. It has been designed with a length of 3675mm, width of 1715mm and 1655mm height. The vehicle borrowed its design from its much bigger XUV500. Black plastic cladding is wrapped all around the SUV and the rectangular shaped fog lamps are well tucked within the black cladding and the split air intakes. Its overall appearance is enriched with the thick black cladding. On the other hand, the side profile is enhanced by the square wheel arches and sharp creases which emerges front A-pillar and tail lights among others. Back door handle is mounted on the rear quarter glass and its rear cladding gets a chrome finished fog lamps along with side skirts. Mahindra KUV100 has an integrated spoiler at the top, tail lamps and a sharp line running across tail lights until the wheel arches.

Mahindra KUV100 Interiors

Not only the exteriors, the interiors of the Mahindra KUV100 is also good with the dual tone interior scheme dominated by grey with black color splashed on the center console, steering wheel, dashboard and door pads. Its brilliant silver finish around center console and steering wheel adds more beauty to the vehicle. A dash mounted AC Vents is provided at the top followed by touch screen and vertically aligned temperature dials on the left side. On the right side of the console, the car sports a mounted gear knob saving on the space. In order to store things, the car has a glove box placed on the passenger side. Mahindra KUV100 comes with an excellent seating arrangement of having six seat layout. Apart from that, the vehicle is offered with an additional bench at the front with an option for five seat layout except for the K2 and K2+ variants. The boot space of the car is found to be approximately 243 litres that can be expanded upto 473 litres.

Mahindra KUV100 is well equipped with various attractive features both outside and inside the vehicle. The young SUV Mahindra KUV100 features an all new mFALCON petrol and diesel engines which is named after a bird of prey. The petrol variant gets a mFALCON G80 Multi Point Fuel Injection with Dual Variable Valve Timing engine producing the displacement very close to 1198cc. It churns out the top power output of 82bhp at 5500rpm and top torque of 115Nm at 3500-3600rpm. Likewise, the diesel variant sports a 1198cc, mFALCON D75 Turbocharger with Intercooler engine delivering the high power of 77bhp at 3750rpm and high torque of 190Nm at 1750-2250rpm. The power is directed to the front wheels of the vehicle through a five speed manual gearbox.

Fuel Efficiency

Packed with a fresh and powerful engine, Mahindra KUV100 delivers an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 25.32kmpl for diesel engine and 18.15kmpl for the petrol engine.

Braking and Handling of KUV100

Braking and handling of the Mahindra KUV100 is really superb with its brakes and suspension systems. The front wheel is fitted with a disc brake while the rear gets a drum brake and this combination ensures immediate halting of the car even at higher level of speed. On the other hand, the front axle of the KUV100 is provided with an independent McPherson Strut with dual path mounts, coil spring and hydraulic Gas charged shock absorber where as the rear axle sports a semi independent twist beam with coil spring and hydraulic gas charged shock absorber. It is easy to handle with its tilt and adjustable power steering. The car features alloy wheels with center cap and it has a tubeless radial tire of size 185/65 R14 at both front and rear.

Safety Features of Mahindra KUV100

When it is talking about its comfortness and safety, Mahindra KUV100 is really excellent. The comfort features of the car includes an air conditioner with heater, fabric seat covers in top variants and vinyl upholstered seats in base trims, fabric inserted door trims, height adjuster for driver’s seat, foldable rear seat, front and rear armrest, headrests and adjustable front row headrest. Along with that, the vehicle is loaded with convenience features such as front and rear power windows, central locking, remote keyless entry, cooled glove box, storage space under co-driver seat, removable storage bin with handles under co-driver seat. The plus variants of the Mahindra KUV100 are offered with a dual airbags for better safety. Overall, the Mahindra KUV100 is good at style, appearance, engine performance, fuel efficiency, comfortness, braking and handling. The safety features like airbags and ABS offered on the base variant is a great approach for the vehicle and it would definitely increase the bar high.
