Mahindra Genio Truck
Mahindra has launched the Genio pick-up truck which is based on the Xylo platform. Based on smart and modern ideas, the Mahindra Genio is set to revolutionize the goods transportation system. Even though the Genio is pick-up, it has a number of comfort and convenient features that are usually found in cars. The Mahindra Genio is a world-class pick-up that boasts of modern design, ideas for economy through technology and ideas that bring car-like comfort to commercial transport. With modern and comfortable interiors and metallic finish body, the Mahindra Genio is sure to have a huge fan following.
Color Options
The Genio is available in plenty of color options. Some of them are given below:
1) Diamond White
2) Drizzle Shine
3) Skyline Blue
4) Marvel Granite
Dimensions
The mini truck has a pretty generous load area. It measures 5275mm in length, 1870mm in width and 1840mm in height and a wheelbase. It has a turning circle radius of 6150mm.
Design and Style
The Mahindra Genio has a very aerodynamic body that has been borrowed from modern cars. The result is: the Genio looks super sleek and international. The front fascia features a strong grille and bumper that give the pick-up a masculine, determined stance. The Genio features clear lens headlamps that not only enhance visibility but also look very classy. The Mahindra Genio is available in high-gloss, metallic paint that make it look more sophisticated.
Even when it comes to the interiors of the Mahindra Genio, it is a clear winner. With 80.5 cubic feet of cabin space and semi-bucket seats with multi-adjust feature, the Genio makes long drives so much easier for the driver as well as the co-driver. The seats also feature front-back adjustment and recliner.
Drivers of the Mahindra Genio also benefit from the adjustable power steering featured in the pick-up. A more car-like experienced is instilled with the refined gear shift. The gear shift is smooth and comfortable, ensuring a comfortable journey.
There are plenty of convenience features in the Genio. Some of the most attractive ones are an extra large glove box, bottle holder & mobile charging point, wallet and mobile case in dashboard, fully carpeted floor, a small turning radius and a super stylish instrument cluster. To add further appeal to Genio, Mahindra has also brought in extra-large sun visors and bigger ORVMs that enhance rear visibility tremendously.
To increase the safety of the driver and the co driver, Mahindra has added latest ELR seatbelts to the Genio.
Engine Specification
The Mahindra Genio is equipped with a powerful 2.5L mDI CRDe engine that has the capacity to deliver a peak performance of 75 bhp and 220 Nm of torque that would allow the vehicle to move at a faster pace. If you want your goods to move faster, then Mahindra Genio is just the right pick-up truck for you as it has a top speed of 120 km/h that allows you to do just that.
Braking and Handling
The Genio is based on the Ingenio (U-platform) which is the same as the Xylo and uses an independent front suspension and rear leaf springs. Being a load carrier the ride quality obviously is on the stiff side when the bay area is empty and this softens once fully loaded. When the loading bay is empty the Genio also feels very unstable under hard braking.
Competition
The Mahindra Getaway which is based on the Scorpio and the Tata Xenon are both lifestyle pickup vehicles and both have 4WD. These two vehicles are both targeted at a customer different to who would be looking to the Genio as an option and the Getaway and the Xenon are both substantially more expensive than the Genio. The only real competitor to the Genio is the Mahindra Bolero pickup which neither looks nor feels as upmarket as the Genio. The Bolero pickup also is far more agricultural to drive and the way that it rides.
Verdict
The Genio is pretty good value and there is no denying that. In the pickup version, this Xylo based utility vehicle looks more upmarket. The styling is similar to the Xylo but Mahindra has recently launched the facelift version of the Xylo. Whether Mahindra will carry over the interior and exterior changes made to the Xylo onto the Genio is still speculative. Irrespective of that, the Genio has an airy cabin but the second row isn’t the most comfortable. The ride and handling is reasonable and the engine is refined. Performance is lower to the Xylo but the Genio is made specially to fit a purpose for which is has all the right ingredients.
