Hyundai has launched its new compact SUV known as Creta with a price range of Rs.8.59 lac - Rs.13.60 lac respectively. It comes with a lot of safety features such as ESC, VSM, HSA, six airbags in the top trims. The features may vary from one trim to another. This new compact SUV would be a very tough competitor to its similar other cars such as Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Tata Safari Storme and Mahindra Scorpio.

Hyundai Creta has won the hearts of many car enthusiasts with its excellent stylish external appearance along with its stunning features. The car comes with a bold front fascade featuring a triple slat chrome radiator grille. It is surrounded by the swept back design headlight cluster fitted with bi-function projector headlamps along with LED positioning lights. The front bumper comes with a muscular design with an air intake section and it is further embedded with a black colored nudge guard as well as a sporty skid plate giving a bold look. The floor console of the car is very huge with lot of storage space and a gearbox console. Talking about the seating arrangement, the car can accommodate five passengers comfortably with enough space for luggage. Hyundai Creta comes with great comfort and convenient features. The base variants is offered with keyless entry system with foldable key, front console armrest with storage, manually operated air conditioning system, electric tailgate release, motor driven electric power assisted steering and front seat back pockets. Along with that, it has remote fuel lid opening, MT shift indicator, battery saver, alternator management system, power windows. Engine Details of Hyundai Creta

The Creta SUV comes in three different drive trains in which the base and mid range variants are powered by a 1.4 litre CRDi with four cylinders based on DOHC configuration. This 1396cc engine generates the maximum power output of 88.7bhp at 4000rpm and maximum torque output of 219.7Nm at 1500-2750rpm. At the same time, 1.6 litre motor with four cylinder based on common rail direct injection fuel supply system is incorporated with a variable geometry turbocharger. This 1582 cc engine delivers the maximum power of 126.3bhp at 4000rpm and maximum torque of 259.8Nm at 1900-2750rpm. On the other hand, the petrol variants are fitted with a 1.6 litre VTVT of displacement capacity of 1591cc. This is equipped with a multi-point fuel injection system for excellent power delivery. It could pump out the maximum power of 121.3bhp at 6400rpm and maximum torque of 154.9Nm at 4850rpm. All these variants of Creta are coupled to a six speed manual transmission gearbox with front wheel drive mechanism. And the SX Plus with 1.6 litre diesel engine is mated to a six speed automatic transmission gearbox.

Mileage

This compact Creta is good at fuel efficiency in which 1.4 litre engine is considered to be the most fuel efficient which delivers an attractive mileage of 24.8 kmpl. Similarly, the 1.6 litre VGT engine generates the fuel efficiency of around 23.9 kmpl and 1.6 litre VTVT engine returns 17kmpl mileage.

Acceleration and Pick Up

Acceleration and pick up of the Hyundai Creta is quite decent in which the 1591cc petrol engine could reach a top speed of 196 kmph and it accelerates from 0-100 km in just 10.5 seconds. It is coupled with a six speed manual transmission gear box which is quite good for engine performance. Likewise, the 1396cc engine gives the maximum speed of 162 kmph and it can accelerate from 0-100 km in just 12.2 seconds. The diesel engine with 1582cc motor is mated to with six speed manual and automatic transmission. Both versions are able to reach the top speed of 190kmph. The manual version of the engine can reach 100kmph in just 10.6 seconds where as the automatic version can reach 100 km in just 11 seconds.

Braking and Handling

Honda has blessed the Creta with superior braking and suspension system for excellent driving experience. For braking, the vehicle gets disc and drum braking system which helps to halt the vehicle suddenly even in bad road conditions. Futher it is incorporated with the anti-lock braking system and electronic brake force distribution. The high end variant of the car is offered with electronic stability program as well as vehicle stability management and hill start assist control for better handling. On the other hand, the SUV is embedded with McPherson Struts at the front axle and torsion beam at the rear axle. Both front and rear axles are loaded with coil springs which improves the capability.

Safety and Security Features

Hyundai Creta comes with lot of advanced comfortable features and it is really good at engine performance and fuel efficiency. The external appearance is an added advantage in this compact SUV. But the plastics used inside the car needs to be improved little and there is only one automatic option. ESC and VSM features are only provided for top end variants which is a great drawback.
