CLOSE_UP OF HONDA MOBILIO
Honda has commenced to enter into the MPV market with the launch of Mobilio following the success of Amaze and City.It is really going to be the tough competition for Honda as it is trying to revive its capability of turning everything into gold among the existing players who are already mastering this segment.
EXTERIOR STYLING:
The car comes with a well cut out wrappers.that gives it a fantastic exterior design that even beats up its predecessor outlook. When other MPV are parked near this Honda Mobilio, only the Mobilio will be eye-catchy that would attract the customers to book this even before its launch.Such a styling appearance evolves out mainly because of the chiseling of the car with an enhanced length that has given the space allowing the lines ,kinks and creases to flourish on. Thus the exterior styling of the car is meticulous and intricate and painstaking well thought of and executed. All these carvings and art works that are visible at the side profile however manages to hide its gangliness to a greater extent or else would have looked ugly. Considering the front end of the Mobilio,it gives the same feel as that of Amaze since the accents, grille and the headlamps are identical. The only difference lies in the bumpers that is of split type in case of Mobilio whereas the bumpers looks like smooth flowing unit in case of Amaze.
INTERIOR DESIGN:
The cabin has been built in a way that passengers can feel roomy and comfort. With the provision of twin set of air-vents having condenser of their own, one placed on the dashboard and the other on the roof, there will not be any niggles concerning cooling effects. A fair amount of profiling work done to the interior roofline has improved headroom by some margin. The dashboard remains the same as that of Amaze, even the seating comfort feels to be the same. The second row is a 60/40 split while the last row is a 50/50 split. When unfolded, the boot space is severely restricted to just a couple of small-sized suitcases, roomy cabin-at front adults can enjoy any kind of journey, but at back due to the lack of adequate thigh support, one might feel exhausting on long journeys. However the quality of plastic being used and fittings are to blamed for leaving bad taste. For instance, the gap between the dashboard and the glovebox is to be criticized. In an effort to provide a multitude of features like a video player along with a navigation system and other frills, attention have not been paid in ease of use.As a whole,Honda have now able to pack in seven seats as intended.
The wheelbase has been increased by 247mm,to 2652mm. The width has been increased by just 3mm.The interesting cue in the change of dimension is the track, that is narrower than Amaze,It is intentionally designed to improve the stability at speeds.
ENGINE &EFFICIENCY:
There is no more difference in case of engine, suspension, brake and mechanical areas, since the same engine that powers the Honda City is said to power the same Mobilio that is tuned to produce same amount of power and torque. First lets go with the1.5 turbo i-DTEC diesel that delivers good performance with 100 PS of power and 200Nm of torque, such that car moves at a high pace within a few seconds. However the top speed comes around 140km/hr that found to be 20 km/hr less than that of Honda City. With the reworked engine, the NVH characteristics is maintained at a threshold level.
When comparing the petrol variant with that of diesel variant, i-VTEC 1.5 litre four cylinder engine is highly silent and reviving engine that produces 119PS of power and 145 Nm of torque.
Both the engines get mated to an manual five-speed gearbox that is being reworked with enhanced ratios to give maximum efficiency at 17.4km/l for petrol and 24.2 km/l for diesel.
Riding&Handling:
In order to provide a great height and better ground clearance of 189mm as well to ensure the safety and security on the move, the suspension has been reworked to a greater extent. As a result, the novices will get a car-like feeling over the ride without manifesting the weight and lumpiness of the rear end. At all time and speed, Mobilio gives you the confident and secure feel. Due to the difference in the weight of both the engine, steering effort on both the engines will make one feel different. Even the turning radius makes us to feel the same that helps in providing delicate manoeuvres.Hard braking and ABS will take care of the security.
Verdict:
The customers do need the Honda to provide more products that satisfies them in terms of comfortness that can be felt over long journey. It will be even more better if the same effort is being distributed both in case of exterior styling and interior design.
I was really impressed by the first looks. It is good at comfort and performance.I got about 15.2kms per litre in the city drive with a co-passenger and ac on amidst the heavy traffic too.And nearly 17.5kms per litre is claimed while travelling on the highways with two adults and full ac on,there is also sufficient bootspace at the back to accomodate the thing
I expected much from this product. In terms of styling, performance,it is ok but the space is so congested that more than 2 tall adults can sit free, though the driver and co-driver seats are comfortable.Dashboard quality is also built with cheap quality. We cannot found the facility for bluetooth and CD-Player
I am very happy to own my mobilio over 2 years.Performance and handling is so good.Styling possess high scores that would tend to attract everyone. There is enough boot space behind that is fit enough for accomodating six persons lugguage for a weekly trip.Only thing I got disappointed with the fixed headrests.
