The leading manufacturer Honda has launched its new City on January 7,2014 in an attractive prices. The new car is packed with lot of exciting and thrilling features and the modifications has been performed over the exteriors which gives an elegant appearance to the overall design. The Honda City would give a tough competition to its similar other cars such as Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Ford Fiesta, Skoda Rapid, Nissan Scala and future generation of the Maruti Suzuki SX4.

Honda City Exteriors

The exterior appearance of the new Honda City is really sporty and aggressive. The car has been designed on the basis of “Exciting H Design” philosophy and this would be followed for the upcoming cars from the manufacturer. The modifications are done to the front and rear profile of the vehicle offering a new look to the car. The front portion of the car is mounted with a solid wing face chrome grille which tapers upwards at the edge along with the Honda emblem at the centre. The revised front grille is extended downwards to the bumper that consists of a thin horizontal slat before the air intakes. The car sports a brilliant premium headlamps offering bright vision while riding at night time. It has a power folding Outside Rear View Mirror along with turn indicator which helps to view the rear happenings on the road. The front bumper is housed with the circular fog lamps covered with honeycomb which gets refreshed. In order to channelize the air intake, the bonnet comes with a two vertical creases. While talking about the side profile, the car has been built with an aerodynamic drag and it looks superb. At the top of the car, it has a shark fin antenna and an electric sunroof is also provided with the car. The higher end models comes with a swept back design alloy wheels whereas the lower end models get wheel caps with a similar shape. The rear part of the car is also very stylish in which it has a two-part layout premium wrap around tail lamps in which the outer par extends into the sides of the car while the inner part is on the boot lid. The rear part is well designed with a rear license chrome garnish giving an elegant appearance. The car is fitted with a trendy five spoke alloy wheels for better road gripness.

Honda City Interiors

The Honda New City has borrowed many of its interior features from its previous car but some modifications over the plastic quality. The top end variants of the car has been designed with a dual color combination such as beige and black color leather upholstery while the lower variants gets a fabric trim. The steering wheel of the car has been refined and it is very bigger than the previous car fitted with some advanced controls over it. The steering wheel has paddle shift and cruise control, audio and hands free telephone controls. The premium dashboard looks very decent with Advanced Driver Interface and Advanced Integrated Audio with 5” screen. It has an auto AC with Touchscreen control panel, Push Button Start, Advance Multi Information Combination Meter etc which helps the driver to feel very comfy. The instrument panel has three circles in which the centre one is for speedometer, left one for tachometer and right one for tripmeter, fuel guage and instant fuel consumption. The speedometer has two backlight colors such as blue and green which gives a bright look to the instrument. The seating arrangement of the car is also good in which the car can accommodate five members very comfortable. It has a centre arm rest, enough legroom for rear passengers, ample headroom, rear AC vents etc. makes the passengers to feel luxurious. For better safety, the car has dual SRS airbags and ABS with EBD.

Honda City Engine Details

Honda City is available in two types of engine options in which the petrol engine is powered by a four cylinder, SOHC i-VTEC engine offering the displacement of about 1497 cc. The petrol engine churns out the maximum power of 119 PS @ 6600 RPM in combination with the maximum torque of 145 NM @ 4600 RPM. The engine is mated with a five forward and one reverse manual transmission. It is also available as automatic CVT transmission. Similarly, the diesel variant is powered by a 4 cylinder, DOHC i-DTEC diesel engine which produces the displacement of around 1498 cc. The diesel engine delivers the net power of 119 PS @ 6600 RPM in coupling with the net torque of 145 NM @ 4600 RPM. The engine comes with a six forward and one reverse manual transmission. No automatic transmission is available for the diesel variant.

Honda City Fuel Efficiency

Honda engines are well known for its performance in which the refined petrol engine of the car provides the mileage of 17.8 kmpl in manual transmission whereas the new Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) offers an impressive mileage of around 18 kmpl which is quite good. On the other hand, the 1.5L diesel engine of the Honda City gives an unparalleled mileage of about 26 kmpl. The diesel engine is designed on the basis of aluminium construction which runs on low friction technology enabling the car to be very good even at corners with perfect efficiency.

Brakes and Suspensions

The new Honda City is packed with a sound and dynamic braking and handling features. Both petrol and diesel engine of the City is fitted with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. These combinations of disc and drum brakes ensures immediate stopping of the vehicle while driving even at high speeds. On the other hand, the car is easy to handle with the suspension system in which the front suspension is of MC Pherson strut with stabilizer, coil spring while the rear is of torsion beam axle with stabilizer, coil spring for both petrol and diesel versions. The steering type of the car is of rack and pinion power steering which is quite good. The tyres also plays a major role in safety in which the tire size of the car is found to be 175/65 R15 which provides an excellent road grip even in wet and bumpy roads.

Honda City Safety Features

Safety is not a big problem in the new Honda City car in which the vehicle is designed with a ACE body structure that enhances self protection in compared to other vehicles in the event of a collision. For more protection, the car is available with the dual SRS airbags for driver and front passenger, impact mitigating headrests and Anti Lock Braking System with Electronic Brake Distribution. To know the rear happenings of the road and to view the rear vehicles, there is a rear parking camera with multiple views. In addition to all, the car has an Immobilizer Anti-Theft System for better safety.

There is no remote control for the audio system.The buttons found on the steering for audio controls are found to be malfunctioning.there is only one remote key

It boasts of luxurious space and extraordinary mileage at 21kmpl in the city ride and 23kmpl on the highways.It would be better if the car length gets extended further
