The largest two wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp is set to launch its new diesel scooter named as RNT at the upcoming Auto Expo Event, 2014. The upcoming scooter will be a rugged, utilitarian and practical design in which the price details will be announced at the event.
The RNT scooter will be provided with detachable headlamps which double up as a torch and it will give better vision during night time ride. It gets a wide, flat-loading surface along with multi-use folding side racks, a large comfortable seat and spacious footboards which we have never seen previously on a scooter. One of the important features of the RNT is the presence of hub electric motor on the front wheel which is packed with an electric battery pack in order to offer the rider a unique two wheel drive option for off road and slushy road conditions.
The Hero RNT Diesel will come with excellent external dimensions in which the overall length and width is found to be 2029 mm and 739 mm where as the height of the scooter is 1077 mm. Along with that, the ground clearance of the scooter will be 168 mm respectively.
The Hero RNT will be powered by a liquid cooled, 4 stroke, turbo diesel hybrid engine which can produce the maximum power output of 13.5 PS @ 4000 RPM and maximum torque of 35 NM @ 1600 RPM along with a displacement of 150 cc. The engine of the new scooter will be mated to a six speed gear box transmission for smooth transitions. The total weight of the scooter is found to be 136 kg and the fuel tank capacity is around 6 liters. The Hero RNT can accelerate from 0-60 km/g sprint in just 5 seconds. It is expected that the scooter will provide the maximum speed of 70 kmph.
The Hero RNT will be fitted with a powerful braking system in which the scooter gets a disc type brake of 300 mm rotor and multi piston caliper at front and a disc brake of 220 mm rotor with single piston caliper at the rear. It is easy to handle the scooter with the great suspension mechanism in which the front suspension is of 37 mm telescopic forks and rear suspension is of swing arm with adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers.
