Hero Motor Corp, Indian motorcycle manufacturer has unveiled its new scooter known as Maestro which is considered to be the second scooter from the largest bike manufacturer after pleasure. The new Maestro would be a tough competitor to its similar other scooters such as Activa, Dio, Pleasure and many more. This has been designed with the target to the male market and they also impressed with this features. The new bike comes with good looks, a fuel efficient engine and comfortable ergonomics which makes the bike a very good choice among its contemporaries. The Maestro is available in only one base variant Hero Moto Corp Maestro Base in an attractive price range of approximately Rs.49,400.

Hero Maestro Dimensions

The external dimensions of the Hero Maestro are not yet revealed but the company claims that it would offer the ground clearance of 155 mm and wheelbase of 1240 mm. The total kerb weight of the scooter is measured as 108 kgs and the fuel tank capacity of the scooter is nearly 5.3 litres.

Design and Engineering

Hero Maestro comes with a solid design along with the bold lines which gives a masculine appearance. The scooter is really awesome with its excellent front looks, mudguard and wide side panels showing conservative lines. It has a bright, radiant, bold trapezoidal multi-focal reflector headlamp as well as front visor adds more beauty to the vehicle and offers more crystal clear vision to the rider while riding. The Maestro possess a decent LCD equipped multi-pod instruments bay which holds an analogue speedometer, trip meter, odometer etc. These instruments displays all the vital information about the scooter and it is very helpful to the rider to know about the scooter details. The palm grips are very soft and smooth as well as the switch gear is standard in Maestro. The seating arrangement of the scooter is really comfortable and it features an utility space which is in the form of an ample lockable bay under the seat. The foot board of the scooter is very flat and spacious which is easy to keep legs without any trouble. It consists of a broad warning light cluster and large grab bar which looks very pretty. Not only the front is good, but also the rear part of the Maestro is very sharp with a combination tail lamp and clear lens.

Hero Maestro Engine Specification

The Hero Maestro is packed with better performance engine which ensures more mileage and fuel economy. The Maestro is powered by an air cooled, 4 stroke, single-cylinder engine OHC engine which gives the displacement very close to 109 cc. This better performance engine of Maestro delivers the maximum power of 6.0 KW (8.2 PS) @ 7500 RPM in coupling with the combination of maximum torque 9.10 NM @ 5500 RPM. The bore and stroke of the scooter is measured as 50 mm and 55.5 mm respectively. The Hero has omitted the kick start option and the new bike comes with only self start option with CDI ignition system. The engine of the Maestro is mated with a dry and automatic centrifugal clutch along with variomatic drive.

Acceleration, Mileage and Fuel Economy

Hero Maestro is believed to offer excellent acceleration and pick up. The fuel efficiency is also too good in which the scooter can be able to touch the barrier of 0-60kph in just 10.51 seconds with the maximum speed of about 87 kph. The engine comes along with the new advanced swirl flow induction system which is shortly known as ASFS. This has been specially designed for optimum power delivery and seamless acceleration.

Brakes and Suspension System

Hero Maestro comes with decent braking and suspension mechanisms in which both front and rear brakes are of drum type with an internal expanding shoe type of diameter 130mm. The scooter comes with a Combined Braking System which is designed for improved stability. This braking system triggers both brakes with pressing just the left side brake lever which helps in significantly reducing the stopping distance. We can use the right lever for front brakes along and ride the scooter with complete confidence. The chassis is of high rigidity underbone type which is quite good. Similarly, the front suspension of the scooter has been designed with a bottom link with spring loaded hydraulic dampers where as the rear suspension comes with an unit swing with spring loaded hydraulic damper. It is tested that the new Maestro can be able to stop from 60-0 kph in just 21.8 metres. Both front and rear tire of the Maestro comes with a tube type and puncture endurance tyres of size 90/100 x 10 – 53 J. This tire provides the superior road grip and makes the ride very smooth.

Safety Features

The Hero Maestro comes with lot of safety features which includes a halogen bulb multi-reflector type headlamps of 12V-35W/35W, a maintenance free battery of 12V-3 Ah and tail lamp of 12V-5W/21W. These lamps provides a clear vision to the rider which adds safety and security. The advanced CBS braking system gives better road grip even in bad road conditions. The seating is also very comfortable and makes the rider and pillion to go for long journey. Along with that, the turning signal indicator is very helpful while turning every nook and corner of the roads.
