Sep 22, 2009 - In 2009, Hero Honda India unveiled its new karizma series bike known as “Karizma ZMR”. The new Hero Honda Karizma ZMR is incorporated with the programmable fuel injection (PGM-Fi) technology which enhances fuel efficiency, power and speed. Pawan Munjal, Managing Director of Hero Honda expressed that their aim is to invent new, advanced products and manages the balanced product portfolio.

Dec 25, 2003 - In 2003, Hero Honda Karizma achieved BBC World’s Wheels “Bike of the Year Award”. In addition, Karizma won the “Best two-wheeler Award” in the category of over Rs.70,000. The Hero Honda Karizma is one of the good looking and stylish bike which features an exciting body graphics. The Variant name is mentioned at the side of the fuel tank which has an eye-catchy look. The Karizma is incorporated with halogen headlight and front visor which gives a dazzling style of its own and better visibility. The Karizma is fully packed with new graphics engine, new technology, clear lens turn signals and many more. The instrumental panel of the bike is made up of two dials namely Speedometer and RPM meter while its digital panel consists of tripmeter, fuel indicator and digital clock as well as total distance indicator.
The Hero Honda Karizma boasts a Sporty UnderCowl in which the engine is fitted in proper position. The Karizma is packed with the new ASFS engine with a displacement of 223cc and bore x stroke of 65.5 x 66.2mm. The carburetor of Karizma is of CVC (Constant Vaccum Carburetor) with CCVI (Carb Controlled Variable Ignition). The bike is designed with an Advanced Microprocessor Ignition System and it returns 5-Speed gearbox. It has both Self Start and Kick Start Options. The Kerb weight of the bike is measured as 150kg and it has a ground clearance of 150mm.
The Seat arrangement of the bike is also very good and comfortable which enables the riders to feel pleasure. The Honda Karizma is developed with good braking system and suspension system. The front brake of the Karizma is of large disc type while the rear brake is of expanding shoe type. The rear suspension of the Karizma is equipped with red coloured spring which gives a beautiful look. The bike has a Telescopic Hydraulic Shock Absorbers and Swing Arm suspensions which enhance the safety. Overall, the Hero Honda Karizma is very suitable for the vibrant youths since it satisfies all the needs of the riders.
Engine
The Hero Honda Karizma and ZMR is housed with Air-cooled, Single Cylinder, 4-Stroke OHC engine with the displacement of 223cc. Apart from that, the Hero Honda Karizma ZMR boast a progressive technology of Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) System. The Karizma discharges a maximum power of 12.68kw @ 7000rpm and torque of 18.35Nm @ 6000rpm. Likewise, the new Karizma ZMR delivers a peak power of 13.15kw @ 7000rpm and torque as same as Karizma. All the three bikes are returning five speed gearbox.
Average Mileage and Fuel Efficiency
The Hero Honda Karizma generates an average mileage of about 35 kmpl in the city ride and 45 kmpl on highways. Similarly, the Karizma ZMR gives out a mileage of approximately 51 kmpl. The bike has a provision of excellent fuel efficiency and low maintenance. The fuel tank capacity of Karizma is 15 litres where as the higher end variant Karizma ZMR has a programmed fuel injection system. The maximum speed of Karizma is 125 km/hr and it can cross 0 to 60 km/hr in just 3.8 seconds.
Models
Karizma ZMR - The ZMR is the top variant of the Hero Honda Karizma which acquires an innovative technology of Programmed Fuel Injection. The Hero Honda Karizma ZMR is powered by an Air-cooled OHC engine with DC - Full Transistorised Ignition System ( FTIS ). The bike is designed with sporty full body cowl along with body coloured rear view mirrors. The clutch is of Multiplate Wet Type and it has a tubular single cradle and diamond type chassis. The dimensions of the bike in terms of length x width x height is 2110 x 805 x 1175 mm and the kerb weight of the bike is 159kg. The new Karizma ZMR has a multi-functional digital console and amazing integrated LED tail light which delivers a sportive glance. The Karizma ZMR is embedded with Astro Gold Disc Front and Rear Brakes which gives Superb handling while riding at high speeds.
Safety Features
The Hero Honda bikes are well furnished with excellent safety features. The Hero Honda Karizma and Karizma ZMR is built with Disc Brake at the front of about 276mm. The Karizma is having the rear brake of internal expanding shoe type about 130mm diameter while the ZMR version has 240 mm disc brake at the rear. The Hero Honda Karizma and ZMR is supported with front suspension of telescopic hydraulic shock absorber and rear suspension of swing arm with 5-step adjustable hydraulic rear shock absorbers.
