Ford Endeavour 2016 Review

Ford has finally launched its all new Endeavour car at Rs.24.75 lacs which is now ready to fight with its similar other cars such as Hyundai Santa Fe, Chevrolet Trailblazer and Toyota Fortuner. This new vehicle comes with all attributes needed by an off-roader while riding even in difficult terrains.

Exterior Features

The new Endeavour follows the philosophy of an American SUV which means that all dials are dialled upto 11 when the vehicle comes to size. The front fascia of the car is decorated by a large hexagonal grille which is drenched in chrome treatments. At the centre of the front area, it has a large blue oval logo looks very decent. The projector headlamps along with day time running LEDs are affixed with the front grille. Its large bumper sports a hard plastic skid plate painted in matte silver and the skid plate extends upwards and it forms the housing for the fog lamps. The bonnet of the car features its own share of muscle with strong character lines running along its length of the vehicle.

In order to offer a dominating appearance, Endeavour comes with a muscle hood, flared arches and the massive grille. Moving to its side profile, the car sports a 3XL sized doors and large window area and two faint character lines run parallel to the window area. To improve the character of the side profile, it gets a flared wheel arches and a side step for entry and exit. It comes with a 18 inch wheels with 265/60 R18 tyres which is quite a practical choice for Indian road conditions. The chrome tab sitting on the front fender bears the engine. At the rear, the vehicle would have a tail mounted spare wheel but now it moves under the boot like the Fortuner. The rear profile is decorated with a large, wrap around LED tail lamps and a massive chrome treatment joins the two lamps together. So, Endeavour is the best looking SUV in its segment while seeing the exterior style.

Interior Features

The interior features of the new Ford Endeavour look really excellent and the parts are of high quality. The dashboard of the car gets split into three sections in which the top portion comes in chocolate brown leather and the middle section features an anthracite/dark grey colored panel which passes from door to door and beige. Ford Endeavour looks very spacious and so seven members could be seated properly and all seven seats are upholstered in beige leather. The driver seat can be adjusted electrically but the co-passenger has a standard manual adjust. Seating is really comfortable with its well cushioned and supportive headroom, shoulder room, back support and leg room which are quite suited even for tall people. But the second row seats could not folded up and so entry and exit is not comfortable. All three rows are affixed with their own set of AC vents and it also has a dual zone climate control.

The car boasts an adjustable steering wheel along with 22 buttons for various options. Its instrument cluster consists of a large central speedometer with two smaller screens on either side where as the left screen is quite useful for audio information and the right screen displays vehicle parameters including RPM, Distance to Empty, Trip Meter etc. For entertainment system, the Endeavour comes with an infotainment system with 10 speakers and the buttons below the center console ensures excellent music. The 4x4 variants sports a rotary dial for the Terrain Management System and the cabin also has bottle holders in the door pads, a sunglass holder, XL sized glove box and arm rest. Compared to its competitor cars, Ford Endeavour has the boot storage capacity of 450 litres and it can be increased to 750 litres with the third rows folded down. By folding the second row of seats, the vehicle offers a 2010 litres of boot space.

Engine Performance

Ford offers the new Endeavour in two engine options which includes 2.2l TDCi (Diesel) and 3.2l TDCi (Diesel) in which the 2.2 litre engine delivers a high power of 160PS (118kW) @ 3200rpm and high torque of 385Nm at 1600-2500rpm mated to six speed automatic and manual transmissions. The six speed manual transmission is available in 4x2 and 4x4 variants. Its six speed automatic transmission is available for 4x2 variant. On the other hand, the 3.2 litre engine churns out the maximum power of 200PS (147kW) at 3000rpm and maximum torque of about 470Nm at 1750-2500rpm mated to the six speed automatic transmission available in 4x4 variant.

Fuel Efficiency

Not only engine performance, the fuel efficiency also really good at diesel motor of this car with the fuel tank capacity of 80litres. The all new Ford Endeavour offers an attractive mileage of around 14.12 kmpl for 2.2litre engine and the 3.2litre engine gives 10.91kmpl respectively. This vehicle is really easy to handle irrespective of the terrain.

Braking and Handling

The new Endeavour comes with an excellent braking and suspension system which is quite easy to handle the vehicle even in poor road conditions. Both front and rear wheels are fitted with disc brakes for immediate braking of the car. Likewise, the front axle is provided with an independent coil spring with anti roll bar suspension and the rear axle is fitted with a coil spring, watts linkage type with anti roll bar suspension for better handling of the vehicle.

Safety Features

The Endeavour is loaded with lot of safety features which ensures better safety and security. Some of its features are as follows.

Compared to its similar other cars in the segment, new Ford Endeavour seems to have all the features and it is the right choice for the SUV seekers.
