Japanese auto manufacturer Nissan has introduced a new low-cost car known as Datsun Go with a price range between Rs.3.12 lakh to Rs.4 lakh. The new car has been designed on the basis of Micra platform with the same engine. The Datsun Go would definitely satisfies the requirements of young car enthusiasts. This hatchback is very lightweight and economical with moderate price but packed with lot of exciting features. The Datsun Go is a very tough competitor to its similar other cars such as Maruti Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon.

Datsun Go Engine Specification

The Datsun Go engine details look very similar to the Micra but it is lesser weight which improves the fuel efficiency of the new car higher than Micra. Datsun Go is powered by a 1.2L, 3 cylinder, 12-valve petrol engine with Dual Over Head Cam shaft which churns out the maximum power of 67 bhp at 5000 rpm and maximum torque of 104 Nm at 4000 rpm with a displacement of 1198 cc. This engine is best suited for Indian road and traffic conditions ensuring better pick up, acceleration and fuel economy. This attractive engine of the car is mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box for smoother gear shifts. Since the fuel capacity of the car is large and it is good for the customers to go for a long journey.

Acceleration, Mileage and Fuel Economy

Datsun Go is well known for its top speed, acceleration and pick up. The new car is expected to touch the barrier 0-100 kmph in just 15 to 16 seconds which is great for Indian road traffic conditions. Datsun Go offers the maximum speed between 150 to 160 kmph even though the engine size is small and light weight. The fuel efficiency of the car is also better than micra and Datsun Go returns a healthy mileage of about 19 kmpl to 20 kmpl with a proficient fuel supply system.

Datsun Go is a spacious car with decent interior features with central console in the front row creating more space for the driver and passenger. The dashboard of the car is very stylish integrated with an advanced audio system with USB socket and AUX-IN support. It also holds four round shaped air conditioner vents with chrome garnished rings. Under the dashboard, a gear shift knob is wrapped in artificial leather upholstery and the console has been further equipped with hand brake which improves controlling aspects. It comes with a comfortable seating arrangement in which the seats are covered in high quality fabric upholstery where as the door trims are available with reasonable quality plastic material with enough legroom, headroom and shoulder room etc. The interior features includes a power steering wheel and power windows. It has a stylish instrument cluster fitted with speedometer, fuel indicator and a few other notification and warning lamps. The door trims are offered with a provision for installing speakers and it has lot of storage compartments. The front row of the car has a mini seat in between for kids or keeping luggages. It has a high mounted stop lamp which is placed inside the car which is visible through rear windshield.

Braking and Handling

Actually, Datsun Go is available with good and proficient braking system which helps to handle the car in any traffic conditions. The hatchback has been fitted with a ventilated disc brakes at the front wheels, where as the rear wheels gets the drum brakes suited for bad road conditions. Along with that, it has an advanced braking technology such as Anti-Locking Braking System with EBD enhances the braking abilities of the car. Similarly, the suspension system of the car is also too good with a McPherson Strut type mechanism for the front wheels and the rear axle has a torsion beam for avoiding any jerks and potholes etc. The Datsun Go comes with a 13 inches wheel with good puncture resistant tyres which helps to prevent from unwanted skidding. Overall, it is very convenient to drive with the braking system.

Safety Features of Datsun Go

Datsun Go has been packed with lot of advanced safety features which includes Airbags, Central Door Locking with keyless entry, driver side power window along with auto down feature and an anti-pinch function. The car holds an engine immobilizer, Child Safety Locks for the rear doors, halogen headlamps, side and front impact beams, an electrical power steering with tilt adjustment, seat belts, front washer and wiper etc adds more safety and security to the drivers and passengers. Apart form the other, it has been packed with a notification lamps in the instrument cluster including driver seat belt warning notification, a door ajar warning indicator, a low fuel warning lamp, a head lamp on warning notification, a key remove warning indicator and many more. Advanced ABS+EBD+BA system is also provided with a speed sensing automatic door locks etc. All these features altogether makes the people to feel very safety and comfortable.

Verdict

The Datsun Go price is cheap compared to other cars but it has been provided with lot of excellent features. The new vehicle features a class leading passenger and boot space as well as good visibility and builds quality. The entry level car has a good driving dynamics but the base version is very basic which there is no glove box.
