Chevrolet Tavera Review

One of the leading automobile manufacturer Chevrolet India has introduced its new Multi Utility Vehicle known as Tavera with a price range of around Rs.7.51 lakh to Rs.10.34 lakh. The price of Chevrolet Tavera is affordable and it is a worthy car. The all new Tavera has been designed with lot of comfort and convenience features. The car comes with a Chevrolet’s design mantra of ‘strength and style’ which would makes the people to turn their heads.

Design and Engineering

Chevrolet Tavera Exteriors

The Tavera is one of the oldest multi purpose vehicle designed with lot of thrilling and exciting features. The front appearance is really attractive fitted with a long rectangular headlights on the grille on which the Chevy bow-tie sits. It has a large windscreen offering a sleeker look and the roof looks really stylish. The Tavera has a rear tailgate which opens sideways and a spare tire is placed under the floor. The car comes with excellent external dimensions which compromise the interior space of the vehicle. The vehicle gets a big windows in which the cabin feels very airy and it adds much comfortness to the passengers. Similar to Qualis, the Tavera’s body gets an on ladder-frame chassis along with a robust tubular construction. Since the external dimensions are very compact and good visibility of the car makes very easy to place in heavy traffic. The car is fitted with a basic torsion bars at the front and leaf springs at the rear.

Chevrolet Tavera Interiors

Not only are the exteriors, the interiors are also very impressive with exciting features. The car comes with a decent dashboard with lot of controls mounted over it. The air-con vents are little hard to operate it and so it needs some improvements. The Tavera has enough space for the passengers along with better luggage storage spaces. It has a small door pockets to place some smaller things such as small bottles, any papers and some useful utilities. Along with that, it has a twin glove box for storage purpose which is quite useful. The rear seats are of foldable type and the middle row passengers gets enough legroom, head room and shoulder space which adds more comfort and convenient to the people. The foldable type rear seats are very useful to keep more luggages.

Engine Details and Fuel Efficiency

The Chevrolet Tavera is powered by a 2.5 litre, direct-injection turbo-diesel engine delivering the maximum power of about 80 BHP @ 3900 RPM in combination with the decent net torque of 19 KGM @ 1800 RPM. The gear acceleration is really appreciable and it is good at city driving. The engine is mated with a five speed manual gearbox and vibration occurs while riding at high level of speed. The bore and stroke of the car is measured as 93 mm and 92 mm along with the compression ratio of 18.5:1. The car generates a healthy mileage of around 10.6 kpl in the city roads which is quite outstanding. The tank size of the car is nearly 55 litres and the car can be able to generate a mileage of 13.7 kpl on highways.

Brakes and Suspensions

The brakes and suspensions are very powerful in which the front brake comes with a ventilated discs while the rear brake is of drum type. The Tavera is easy to handle at any level of speed and the fairly accurate power assisted recirculating ball and nut type steering is also very helpful for that. The excellent braking system ensures better stopping power but it also want more servo assistance. The brakes would stop the vehicle even in wet and bumpy roads in an efficient manner. Likewise, the front suspension is of independent, double wishbones with torsion bar spring with anti-roll bar and the rear suspension is of semi elliptical leaf spring. The rear leaf spring is for better ride quality and the suspension is appreciable. The Tavera is fitted with a tubeless tire of size 205/65 R15 which provides better road grip and ensures better driving experience.
