Engine Details of Chevrolet Beat

The Chevrolet Beat is considered to be a very powerful, performing and fuel efficient car in which the petrol variant is fitted with a 1.2L DOHC, 4 cylinders and 16 valves engine offering 1197cc while the diesel variant comes in 1 Litre XSDE SMARTECH 3-cylinder Common Rail Diesel engine with a displacement of 936 cc respectively. The petrol version delivers a maximum power of about 80.5 PS @ 6200 RPM with torque of 108 NM @ 4400 RPM. Similarly, the diesel version is able to deliver a maximum power output of 58.5 PS @ 4000 RPM and a maximum torque of 150 NM @ 1750 RPM. Both engines are very helpful in minimizing the friction and producing clear emission with better performance. The car is available in 5 speed manual transmission gearbox.

Acceleration and Mileage

The acceleration of the car is mainly based on the power, torque and the transmission gearbox in which the Beat assures to be the best. The petrol engine with Port Deactivation Technology of Beat is believed to offer mileage 14.5kmpl in city and 18.6kmpl on highway. This highly advanced engine of Chevrolet Beat is able to cross 100 km in just 15.5 seconds and reaches top speed of 145 kmph while the Beat Diesel is able to generate a mileage of 25.44 km/litre on the highways. In addition, the new LPG version is expected to offer a mileage of about 13.5-14 kmpl.

The exterior of the Beat comes in satin silver finish roof rails and the B pillar styling strip is designed to give the smart look. It features an attractive front grille with eye catchy curvier headlights and body coloured bumpers. The rear end of the car is mounted with stylish LED tail lights which gives an impressive look. The door handles and tailgate handles are of body coloured with chrome finished company logo at the front adds extra finishing touch. The car is well fitted with 14 inch wheels of size 155/70 R14 with puncture proof tubeless tyres. The Chevrolet Beat comes with a sound, dynamic and efficient braking system. It features a McPherson strut front suspension and Compound Link Type rear suspension with 4 gas filed shock absorbers. It has Anti-Lock Braking System for preventing the wheel locking, sudden braking and controls the stability of the car giving comfort driving. It possess a front and rear brakes of disc and drum type. There are two types of safety features including active and passive for managing the unexpected surprises that come in our way. The car sports a dual SRS airbag, 2.5 mph impact proof bumpers provides safety and reduces accidents, injuries and collisions. For better visibility, the halogen headlamps are present and front fog lamps also plays a role as a safeguard during bad weather condition. Some other safety features includes front seat belts, child lock, high mounted lamp for clear vision, double horn, side impact beams. Fuel economy is perfect

I own this car for more than 1 and a half years.Till now,I cannot find any inconvenience with the mileage or comfort.Because the mileage I get on the highways is about 19kmpl with 90% AC and nearly about 15kmpl in the city drive at 55kmph with 75% AC.The areas of improvement could be the front bumper that could be made better atleast to suit the Indian road conditions.

Good within city limits

Small yet smart car that gives me good comfort.The instrumental panel is nice ,feeling peppy at all the gearshifts,however,the raised bumper could be made shorter so that it would be more comfortable for short drivers like us

Good for city ride

After clocking around 22000km,the mileage I get on the highways is 23.45kmpl while in the city ride it consumes about 19kmpl of fuel.Though the nuisance level is good,the gearshifts could have been even better.The interior is good for have a drive with 4 family members however the music quality is not so good

Impression Killer

The department where the car scores the best is in the looks department.It is such a stylish car that would compromise everything in trms of comfort and performance.Why I am saying this is though the handling is nice,the driver does not feel so comfort to drive,also the boot space is not so large to accomodate more lugguages.Moreover donot tempt to overtake a truck on the highways with the full AC on.Overall,if you are a person driving more than 300kms a week,this car is not the right choice
