Tata Motors-owned Land Rover has launched a Sports Utility Vehicle named as Land Rover Freelander 2 in India on Sep 22. Freelander 2 is powered by a 2.2-litre in-line 4 turbodiesel engine and has a command shift 6-speed automatic transmission. The transversely mounted engine of the Freelander 2 has many merits including flexibility in front-end styling and excellent crash protection. It is also equipped with the unique Terrain Response system, with the help of traction aids and electronic management systems, helps in maximizing traction. The SUV has an electric sunroof with panoramic glass to enhance the driving experience. Land Rover ensures all the safety features in the Freelander 2 which includes Roll Stability Control (RSC), airbags for the driver and front passenger, airbags at the side and head for optimal safety as well as an airbag for the driver's knee, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Electronic Traction Control (ETC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and the unique Hill Descent Control (HDC).
