Volkswagen plans to introduce the petrol variant of Passat in India and it seems that it could be launched next month. Passat Petrol will be powered by a 1.8-litre TSi turbo petrol direct injection engine capable of delivering 160bhp of maximum power and a peak torque of 250Nm. The 1.8-litre petrol engine of Passat will have a very good fuel efficiency.
After the launch, the petrol variant of Passat will be positioned as its entry level variant. It is expected that Passat Petrol would be around Rs.1-2 lakhs lesser than the base variant of Passat Diesel. The Passat Petrol will mainly compete with the petrol variants of Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Skoda Superb and Hyundai Sonata. Expect Jetta Petrol from Volkswagen after the launch of Passat Petrol.
