Tata plans to launch the CNG version of Nano in October during Navratras. The CNG version of Nano has been named as ‘emax’. The company said, “The product was unveiled in June 2013 and is scheduled to be in the market by October 2013. There have not been any changes to our plans as we gear up for the market launch.”
The Nano CNG will get 623cc twin cylinder petrol engine which can be tuned to run on both CNG and petrol. So this version gets both CNG and petrol tank. The petrol tank will be helpful to the users to drive the car for longer distances. The driver can switch the car between CNG mode and petrol mode by a Switch which is present on the dashboard.
The capacity of CNG tank is 32 liter. This CNG variant offers an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 36km/kg. The Co2 emission of this variant is 75g/km only. The Nano emax CNG gets 4 year/60,00km warranty. In petrol mode the engine can develop maximum power of 37.5bhp.In CNG mode it can generate maximum power of 32 bhp at 5500rpm and maximum torque of 45 Nm at 3500 rpm. The engine system is mated to five speed manual transmission. It is expected that the price of this car is Rs 30,000 more than the petrol model.
