We have been hearing a lot on Mahindra’s foray into US market, but what we failed to notice is the launch of C5 motorcycle by an Indian auto maker. It’s not TVS (few months back we informed you about TVS plans to sell apache in America) but Royal Enfield. After launching the G5 with its new Unit Construction Engine, Royal Enfield is all set to launch the classic C5 in USA. Americans living in most states except California can get the C5 and cruise. Californians have to wait till the spring of 2010 as Royal Enfield’s C5 to clear the regulations only by that time. The air cooled, fuel injected, single cylinder displacing 499cc generates 27bhp and transmission is a five speed one. Royal Enfield claims the C5 can reach a top speed of 130kmph. According to the importer, C5 delivers an impressive fuel efficiency of 80mpg(34kmpl) under test conditions. Royal Enfields C5 UCE comes with a two-year unlimited mileage warranty. The thumper can be started only by thumb(electric start only no kick lever). C5 usee18 inch tyres at the front and the rear. Braking is through 11 inch disc brake at the front and drum at the rear. Classic C5 will be sold in three colours – black, deep maroon and green. Royal Enfield C5 will be imported by Kevin Mahoney of and is expected to cost $6,395.
