Hyosung launches GT250R

DSK Hyosung today launched its best selling bike in an exciting new lookthe – New GT250R. This latest offering from the DSK Hyosung stable embodies the elements of advanced futuristic styling, sporty graphics and aggressive design elements like stylish new headlamps among others. Add to this will be the three exciting colour options of Red Titanium, White Titanium and Black Titanium each of which will be available in three tone shade.

Hero Zir – Pictorial Review

Hero has unveiled their 150cc scooter, Zir at 2014 Auto Expo. The Zir scooter will be available in two variants – flat floor board model and European style model. Here you can check out the pictures of both flat floor board model and European style model. It will be powered by 157.1cc, liquid cooled, 4-stroke, OHC engine which can churn out peak power of 14.27PS and peak torque of 12.7Nm.

zir-1Zir scooter measures 2085mm in length, 745mm in width and 1385mm in height. The kerb weight of Zir scooter is 139Kg. The fuel tank capacity of Zir is 9 litre and a usable reserve capacity is 2.5 litre. The minimum ground clearance of Zir scooter is 155mm. It will also get 12V maintenance free battery.  It can offer a top speed of 110kmph.

Zir also gets mobile phone charging and a special EFI system (exclusive of Zir scooter) that will communicate with smart phone for all engine/riding information through ride-stat app. Zir european style variant scooter model includes cowl mounted console and large protector screen. It also gets Integrated Hydraulic Braking System which enables precise braking, even at high speeds. The Integrated Hydraulic Braking System is very similar to Honda’s Combi braking system. It combines hydraulic disc brake at the front and rear.

TVS Graphite concept – Pictorial Review

TVS has showcased Graphite scooter concept at the 2014 Auto Expo. It gets aggressive styling from stealth military aircraft’s engineering. The AMT gear box is one of the important features of this Graphite scooter. The company will bring the production model at any time soon. It gets 150cc, four valve, SOHC, electronic fuel injection system with advanced air-cooled system. It will come with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) gearbox. This AMT gearbox or clutch less manual transmission will be mated to paddle shifters.

Hero launches Pleasure facelift in two variants

Hero has launched the updated Pleasure model in the Country. The Pleasure facelift is available in two variants – Special edition and regular model. The special edition gets the alloy wheels while the regular model gets steel wheels.

The updated model gets the same 102cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, four stroke engine. It can generate maximum power output of 6.74hp at 7000rpm and maximum torque output of 7.85Nm at 5000rpm. It can offer a top speed of 77kmph. The updated model is equipped with IBS (Integrated Braking System) technology.

The IBS (Integrated Braking System) is a System which is used to link the front and rear brakes of a scooter. IBS is a new feature in terms of safety which is specially designed by the R&D department of Hero. Hero Motocorp has applied patent for this IBS. The IBS system is different from the Combi –Brake System of Honda. The Combi-Brake system does not work when only the front brake is applied by the user. It is the main difference between the Combi –Brake System and IBS (Integrated Braking System).

The new model comes with an all new headlamp and tail lamp design. It features updated instrument cluster, dual tone shade, alloy wheels, side stand indicator, rubber tyres, mobile charger socket, boot light in luggage box, a lockable glove box and combination ignition lock with seat opening. It is available at a price in the range between Rs.53,000 to Rs.55,000.

Yamaha Alpha – Pictorial Review

Yamaha, the Japanese two wheeler manufacturer has launched its Alpha scooter at a price of Rs.49,518 in 2014 Auto Expo. The Alpha scooter may reach 14,000 units in sales by the end of this month.

Roy Kurian, vice-president, Yamaha Motor India Sales, said “We are hopeful of recording 14,000 units of Alpha sales by this month (March) across the country. Bangalore, which is among the biggest two-wheeler markets in India, holds a pre-eminent position for us.”

Datsun GO – Pictorial Review

Datsun has launched their Go hatchback recently which is based on the Nissan’s Micra platform. Here you can check out the images of Datsun Go. The Go hatchback is available in three trim levels. Datsun GO measures 3785mm in length, 1635mm in width and 1485mm in height. It is available at a price in the range between Rs.3.12lakhs to 3.69 lakhs.

It is powered by a 1.2 litre, three cylinder petrol engine which is mated to five speed manual gear box. The engine can return an ARAI certified mileage of 20.63 kmpl. The engine can develop maximum power output of 67 bhp and maximum torque output of 104 Nm. The engine can return a mileage of city and highway are 12.8kmpl and 17.9 kmpl respectively. The car can accelerate from 0 to 60kmph in 5.53 seconds and 0 to 140kmph in 34.08 seconds. The fuel tank size of Datsun Go is 35 litre.

It comes with a Rack and pinion type steering wheel and 13” pressed steel wheels with tyres fitted with the size of 155/70 R13. The car offers warranty of two years. Braking is done with the help of ventilated disc brake at the front and drum brake at the rear.  The car includes independent, Macpherson struts, coil springs suspension at the front side while the rear gets non-independent, torsion beam, coil springs suspension at the rear. The hatchback gets hexagonal grille with chrome inserts and headlamps and at the rear of the car gets a vertically stacked light design and openable boot lid.

The variants of Datsun Go are D, A and T. Follow me headlamps, engine immobilizer, wipers, gear shift guide and digital trip computer are available in all variants .The base level trim D is available with two versions D and D1. The D1 variant comes with left wing mirror, bottle holders and map pockets in the front doors but the D variant does not get this type of accessories. It is the major difference between the D and D1.

Pulsar 150NS – Spy Pictures

Bajaj plans to launch new motorcycles in 150-200cc segment. Bajaj feels that it is suffering a little slow down in the 150-200cc motorcycle category and it needs to improve its position. So it plans to launch Pulsar 150NS and Pulsar 180NS.  The company has been testing on their Pulsar 150NS and Pulsar 180NS. Now the Pulsar 150NS has been spotted testing which will get more accessories from its sibling, Pulsar 200NS.

The Pulsar 150NS gets single seat while the Pulsar 200NS owns split seats. It includes the same parts such as wheels, indicators and instrument cluster from the Pulsar 200NS. The bike was spotted with aluminium holder for number plate and split grab rails.

The current Pulsar 150 is powered by an air-cooled, four stroke, DTS-I engine with 5 speed gearbox. The engine can generate maximum power output of 15.06PS at 9000rpm and maximum torque output of 12.5Nm at 6500rpm. The upcoming Pulsar 150NS will get an all new engine with triple spark ignition technology. The both Pulsar 150NS and Pulsar 180NS will get a price slightly higher than that of current Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 180 models.

The fuel tank of the bike is not similar to the old model and the usual silencer has been replaced by an under-body one like Duke 200, 390, Pulsar 200 NS. The rear will be very different with the mud guard and will have a mono shock suspension.

Hero Dare Vs Dash Vs Duet

Hero Motorcorp has unveiled their new range of products including the new scooters and also motorcycles in the 2014 Auto Expo. The Dare and Dash scooters were showcased at the Auto Expo while the other model Duet was not showcased. Hero Dare, the masculine scooter in 125cc segment. Dare measures 1820mm in length, 975mm in width, and 1180mm in height. The ground clearance of the Dare scooter is 155mm.

It includes 30mm telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers for front suspension and single hydraulic shock absorber at rear. It comes with tubeless tyres with the size of 190/90 R12 at the front side and 100/90 R10 at the rear. The Dare gets 200mm hydraulic disc brake and 130mm drum brake at both front and rear respectively. The fuel tank capacity of Dare scooter is 6 litre and a usable reserve capacity is 3.8 litre.

Hero Dare gets 124.6cc, air cooled, 4 stroke, OHC engine. The engine can generate maximum power output of 9.5PS at 7500rpm and maximum torque output of 9.8 Nm at 6500rpm.

TVS Phoenix based commuter – Spy Pictures

TVS plans to launch a 150cc commuter which is based on 125cc motorcycle Phoenix. It has been working on a new engine and chassis which is based on Phoenix platform. The 150cc commuter has spotted testing on the highway between Bangalore to Chennai.  Already a 100cc Phoenix based commuter has spotted with drum brake at the front.  So it is clear that the company has been working on commuter bikes which will be positioned above and below of the Current Phoenix 125.

This 150cc motorcycle is equipped with disc brake at the front. The bike can offer a top speed of 100kmph.  The Current Phoenix 125 is powered by 124.5cc, eco-thrust engine which can produce maximum power output of 11 PS at 8000rpm and maximum torque output of 10.8Nm at 6000rpm.
