UM Hypersport – Spy picture

UM motorcycles, the US based manufacturer has planned to enter in the Indian market by October of this year. The company has showcased their two wheeler models at the 2014 Auto Expo. It plans to launch 100-400cc series bikes in India. The Renegade series will be the first launch from the manufacturer which includes 230cc Renegade commando and 200cc Renegade Sport.  Apart from that Renegade series models, the US based manufacturer also plans to launch UM Hypersport, on/off road motorcycle in the country.

The UM Hypersport gets 223cc, single cylinder, 4 stroke engine which can generate maximum power output of 17bhp and maximum torque output of 17Nm. The overall weight of the bike is 122kg. Fully digital instrument cluster, mobile charger socket and alloy wheels are the highlights of UM Hypersport. It will come with advanced radial tyres with Anti-Flat Sealant (AFS) which provides more safety to the rider while riding.

It includes upside down front forks for front suspension and mono-shock suspension for rear. Braking will be done with the help of disc brake at both front and rear. Currently Hero Impulse is the only on/off road motorcycle in the country. We can expect the price of UM Hypersport at a price of Rs 1.5 lakhs. These bike models will be manufactured at the upcoming manufacturing plant near Delhi.

Hero launches Xtreme facelift in India

Hero Motocorp has launched the Xtreme facelift in the country. The 2014 Xtreme is available in two variants. It is available in both kick start and self start with alloy wheels as a standard. It offers the shades like blue, orange, silver and red.

The updated Xtreme gets the same 149.2cc, 4 stroke, air-cooled, single cylinder OHC engine with 5 speed constant mesh gearbox. The engine can generate peak power output of 14.4PS at 8500rpm and 12.80Nm of peak torque at 6500rpm.

The Xtreme facelift gets telescopic hydraulic type suspension at the front and rectangular swingarm with 5 speed adjustable gas reservoir suspension at the rear. The price of 2014 Xtreme disc variant is Rs.69,530 while the front-only disc brake gets the price of Rs.66,516. The Xtreme Sports which was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo gets the 150cc engine with 15.2PS of maximum power. We can expect the launch of Xtreme Sports soon in the country.

Hero to launch Sparkle dirt bike

Hero Motocorp plans to launch their dirt bike, Sparkle in the country. Currently Hero is the only two wheeler manufacturer in India which has the dirt bike styled off-road motorcycle namely, Impulse. The company has also unveiled a wide range of products at the 2014 Auto Expo. The sparkle will include fibre body and light weight chassis. It will come with mud protectors, high mounted fender and also under seat exhaust.

It will be powered by 80cc, 2 stroke, air-cooled engine with six speed gearbox. It can churn out maximum power of 4.6bhp. The overall weight of the bike is 90kg. It can offer a top speed of 100kmph.

The Dirt bike Sparkle will not include headlamp. It will get durable spoke alloy wheels with dirt compatible tyres. Braking will be done with the help of petal disc brake at the front and drum brake at rear. Suspension duty will be carried out by long travel telescopic forks front suspension and dual hydraulic shocks, aluminium swing arm suspension at rear. We can expect the launch of this bike by the end of this year.

Honda to launch new CBR150R

Honda Motorcycles plans to introduce a new version of CBR150R. The new version will replace the current CBR150R. The new version of CBR150R will get the same frame from CBR250. One Indonesian website, Moto Blast has released the model images of upcoming new CBR150R. The new bike was spotted with the parts like mufflers, tank, chassis, front fairing and rear wheels etc.,

The current CBR150R is powered by 149.4cc, liquid cooled, 4 valve, 4 stroke, DOHC SI engine. It can develop maximum power output of 17.57bhp at 10500rpm and maximum torque output of 12.66Nm at 8500rpm. It measures 2000mm in length, 825mm in width and 1120mm in height. The wheelbase of CBR150R is 1305mm while the ground clearance is 190mm. The overall weight of the bike is 138kg.

TVS-BMW to develop 300cc street bike

TVS BMW Motorrad tie-up plans to develop a new 300cc single street bike. It is powered by 300cc, 4 stroke, liquid cooled single cylinder engine. At first, an adventure bike like Hero Impulse was considered to develop by the alliance. Now it’s planning to launch 300cc street bike by 2015-2016.

TVS has showcased their Draken X21 concept at 2014 Auto Expo which is fully based on company’s new design philosophy. The Draken X21, naked street fighter concept gets 249.2cc, 4V, DOHC, liquid-cooled engine with 6 speed gearbox. The engine can churn out peak power of 38.47hp at 12,000rpm and peak torque of 23Nm at 9500rpm.

At the front Draken X21 gets 120/70 R17 pirelli tyres and 160/60 R17 tyres at rear. Suspension duty will be done with the help of 41mm inverted telescopic forks at the front and off-set monoshock, cast-alloy swingarm at the rear. It includes petal type disc brake at the front and rear disc brake with Anti-lock Braking System for perfect braking.

So the TVS-BMW street bike might be based on this Draken concept. TVS-BMW street bike is expected to churn out maximum power output of 36bhp. The street bike will compete with the bikes like Kawasaki Ninja 300 as well as the KTM Duke 390

Bajaj introduces new dual tone shades for Pulsar 150

Bajaj has introduced new three dual tone shades for Pulsar 150. The Pulsar 180 and Pulsar 220 get the new dual tone shades recently. The company has been testing on Pulsar 150NS and spotted at various places in the country. The Pulsar 150NS gets the styling from its sibling Pulsar 200NS. We can expect the launch of Pulsar 150NS in the country soon.

The new colour options are Pearl metallic white, Cocktail wine red and Sapphire blue. The bike does not get any mechanical updates and receives only the cosmetic changes. It is powered by the same 149cc, 4 stroke, DTS-i, air-cooled, single cylinder engine with five speed gearbox. The engine can generate peak power of 15.06PS at 9000rpm and peak torque of 12.5Nmat 6500rpm.

Suspension duty is done with the help of telescopic with anti-friction brush at the front and 5 way adjustable nitrox shock absorber at rear. It includes 240mm Disc brake at the front and 130mm drum brake at rear.

Suzuki Lets scooter bookings open

Suzuki Motorcycle India Limited dealers have started the booking for Lets automatic scooter. The Suzuki Lets will be available from next month. This scooter was showcased by the company at the 2014 Auto Expo. Suzuki has entered into 110cc segment with this Lets scooter which gets the sharp and aerodynamic styling.

Lets scooter gets 112cc, in-line, single-cylinder, four stroke, air-cooled engine with Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) gearbox. The engine can churn out maximum power output of 8.7bhp at 7500rpm and maximum torque output of 8.92Nm at 6500rpm. It can return an overall mileage of 63kmpl.

The engine uses a new technology, SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance). The SEP technology will lead the engine to provide better fuel efficiency. This technology reduces the mechanical loss of engine in order to improve the mileage. The most parts of the scooter is made with the help of plastic in order to reduce the production cost. It gets an ordinary type instrument cluster.

It measures 1805 mm in length, 655 mm in width and 1120 mm in height. The wheelbase of the scooter is 1250 mm while the ground clearance is 160 mm. The fuel tank capacity of the scooter is 5.2 litre. The weight of the scooter is 98Kg.

It includes telescopic forks suspension at the front and mono shock stressed engine suspension at rear. Lets scooter gets 90/100 R10 tubeless tyres with 10 inch steel wheels. It will use 120mm drum brake at both front and rear. Lets will be available in the shades like Glass Sparkle Black, Metallic Sonic Silver, Pearl Mira Red, Metallic Triton Blue and Pearl Mirage White. We can expect the on-road price of Lets scooter at Rs.48,000.

Piaggio to launch Vespa 946 by June

Piaggio, the Italian manufacturer plans to launch its Vespa 946 in the country. Vespa 946 was first displayed at 2014 Auto Expo. The company will bring the models as a Completely Built Units (CBU). Piaggio India, MD, Mr. Ravi Chopra said, “The Vespa 946 scooter will be priced at Rs 8-9 lakh, is aimed at the collectors and the people who are passionate about such offerings. It is the essence of style and design. It is hand-crafted with the latest technology.”

It gets aluminium metal body with welded reinforcements and an attractive floating type seats. It will be powered by a 150cc, single cylinder, four stroke, and electronic fuel injection engine with catalytic converter. The engine is coupled to Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT). The engine can generate 13 hp of maximum power and maximum torque output of 12.6 Nm.

Vespa 946 will come with lots of exciting features such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with ASR traction control, advanced electronic system and Thermal dissipation system in LED front head light. The use of this advanced electronic system is to avoid skidding of rear wheel. We can expect the launch of Vespa 946 in the month of June.

Yamaha FZ-S Version 2 – Spy Picture

Yamaha, Japanese motorcycle manufacturer plans to update the FZ model in the country. The bike has been spotted testing at various places in the country. The upcoming Yamaha FZ has spotted testing in Greater Noida looks similar to the model which was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo.

The updated version FZ-S gets more changes in technical specifications rather than the cosmetic changes. The updated Yamaha FZS offers a new tail light, exhaust, split seats, clear lens indicators, rear tyre hugger as well as number plate holder. The company plans to introduce a very powerful engine on this updated model.

It will include redesigned 170cc engine which can churn out 17 Ps of maximum power output.  The new engine can generate greater torque output than the current engine. We can expect the launch of updated version of FZ in the upcoming months. It will take on the models such as Honda CB Trigger, upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 150 NS and Suzuki Gixxer.

UM motorcycles to launch Renegade series by October

UM motorcycles has planned to enter in  the Indian market by October of this year. The US based manufacturer has showcased their two wheeler models at the 2014 Auto Expo. It plans to launch 100-400cc series bikes in India. The Renegade series will be the first launch from the manufacturer which includes 230cc Renegade commando and 200cc Renegade Sport.

The UM motorcycles has already built their research and develop center in Delhi. Currently this plant develops two new engines – 350cc, water cooled, V-twin engine. Initially the company will bring the models as Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units.

“We want to create our own niche. In India, there is space in the cruiser segment where you only have Royal Enfield today. The Harley and Triumph models are too expensive. This segment of bikes, priced over Rs 1 lakh, is growing at 45 per cent and is currently at two lakh units a year. We expect this to touch four lakh units in five years, with our company having a 10 per cent  share,” said Rajeev Mishra, director, UM India.
