1% additional tax will be charged on luxury cars above Rs 10 lakh,” Jaitley announced. In a move aimed at checking pollution and encouraging use of hybrid cars, FM Jaitley also announced that a 1% infra cess will be levied on small petrol cars. A 2.5% infra cess will be imposed on diesel cars.
Jaitley also said that a 4% additional levy will be imposed on high-capacity passenger vehicles and SUVs.
Maruti on the second day of auto expo shown two new concepts – Ignis and Baleno RS. Ignis concept was first shown in Japan and it is expected to be the maruti entry level suv in the indian market. Powered by the 1.2L petrol engine developing 88.79bhp of peak power and 118Nm of peak torque is said to return a mileage of 22kmpl. Ignis will sit below the vitara brezza and will take on the likes of Mahindra KUV 100. Ignis will be sold through NEXA dealerships
Baleno RS: riding on the success of baleno, maruti has unveiled performance variant of Baleno called Baleno RS. Baleno RS powered by a 1.0L boosterjet engine generating max power of 110bhp and peak torque of 175Nm. With the boosterjet engine, Baleno RS will take on the likes of polo GTI, punto abarth and more. This engine is compact yet deliver exceptional performance on the likes of Ford Ecoboost engine which powers the Ecosport. Maruti will integrate this engine on future swift and dzire models if it succeeds with Baleno RS

Lacking any new models, Fiat spruced up its existing models with its vast experience in performance addition. Fiat which has already launched the Abarth and avventura variants of punto and t-jet model of linea has now launched urban cross (more claddings on punto avventura) and exhilarating 125bhp powerful linea called lina 125S.
Urban cross carries the same specs as avventura with cosmetic updates here and there. Punto pure is nothing old stock of original punto and is now being relaunched at Rs4.49 lakhs

Taking a leaf out of germans book, Mahindra has showcased a crossover called XUV aero based on Mahindra’s popular suv XUV500. With scissor doors on one side and coupe like profile, it has all the bells and whistles for a concept. We have to see what all mahindra brings into the production version.
XUV aero gets an all-new 210bhp mHawk diesel engine and XUV Aero is capable of doing 0-60kph in under 6 seconds. XUV aero if and when launched will sit above the XUV 500 and target the likes of Honda CR-V.

Tata Motors today walked the talk with the unveiling of production ready Nexon compact SUV, Hexa preimum SUV and Kite 5 Compact sedan. However seems to be affected the zika virus, Tata’s branding seems to have tough day with none of the names except the hexa may be the actual product name. Tata has already confirmed zica won’t be the name for the new sporty hatchback launched. Also the kite 5 and nexon seems to be the production code name with the actual names will be unveiled by the time of launch
NEXON: Compact suv which made a splash at the 2014 auto expo, is the tata’s compact suv to take on the Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster, Maruti Vitara brezza, Mahindra TUV300 and more. Nexon gets two engine options – a new 110bhp, 1.5-litre diesel engine and an upgraded turbocharged version of the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine – that powers bolt, zest and zica.
Hexa: After the failure of Aria, Tata has changed the MUV Aria into a premium SUV Hexa. Hexa SUV features a 2.2-litre Varicor 400 diesel engine that also powers the Aria and the Safari Storme. The engine will be mated with a 6 speeed manual and all new 6-speed automatic gearbox. Hexa produces 154.2bhp of peak power and 400Nm of peak torque. Hexa dimensions are 4764mm length, 1780mm height, 1895mm width and 2,850mm wheelbase.
Kite 5 compact sedan: This is the booted version of zica hatchback. We all know kite compact sedan is coming and it will be powered by the same set of petrol and diesel engines that powers the zica though in a different tune. Unlike the other sedans made out of hatchbacks, tata engineers has managed to make the boot gel with the overall profile of the car. This entry level compact sedan will undercut the Maruti dzire, figo aspire, honda amaze and hyundai xcent and create a new segment for itself.

Akula 310: TVS Akula 310 is the full faired variant of BMW G310R bike which was just unveiled.BMW G310R the bike featured liquid cooled 310cc engine. BMW G310R produced jointly with TV single puts out a claimed 34 horsepower at 9,500 rpm. Akula is built using aluminium and carbon fibre body.
X21: Though TVS has earlier said, apache is naked street fighter motorcycle and hence there won’t be any faired version of apache 200. The success of rival models like Pulsar 200SS might have made the manufacturer to rethink its strategy. X21 is 212cc, 4 valve faired motorcycle with monoshock suspension and fuel injection powertrain.

Hero motocorp yet again showcased many models at the auto expo. 2016 auto expo highlights includes – Xtreme 200S, XF3R, splendor ismart 110cc and duet-E (duet electric).
