Yamaha to launch new Ray scooter by Diwali

Ray, the first scooter of Yamaha will be launched in India by Diwali. Ray is an automatic scooter which is expected to feature telescopic front forks. Its engine displacement may vary between 100 and 125cc.

Mr.Roy Kurian, National Business Head of India Yamaha Motor stated, “Ongoing capacity expansion at Yamaha’s Surajpur (Uttar Pradesh) factory shall conclude this year, following which Yamaha’s yearly production will reach one million units from six lakh units today. Yamaha is simultaneously scouting for land in the south to put up another manufacturing facility”.

The sharp looking Yamaha Ray may compete with the new Honda Dio in its design and radical-ness. Yamaha plans to target the fairer sex with its stylish Ray scooter.

Maruti Ertiga to be launched on April 11

Ertiga, the much-awaited new compact MPV of Maruti will be launched by the company on April 11,2012. The seven seater Ertiga is the company’s entry-level high-end MPV which will be available as both petrol and diesel variants. Maruti plans to make the debut of its 1.4-litre K-14 VVT engine in India through Ertiga. The petrol variant of Ertiga will feature this K-14 engine while the diesel variant will be powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS super turbo engine which offers 20.77kmpl. Ertiga is manufactured at the company’s plant in Gurgaon and Maruti aims to sell around 5000 units of the new compact MPV every month. After its launch, Ertiga may compete with the new Xylo.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport hits India

The Pajero Sport SUV of Mitsubishi has been launched by Hindustan Motors at a price of Rs.23.53 lakhs. The seven-seater Pajero Sport gets ABS and EBD as its safety features and also holds leather-wrapped gear knob, driver and passenger airbags, a USB-equipped music player and a multi-information display. Powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine, the Pajero Sport comes with the company’s rally-proven shift-on-the-fly Super Select 4WD. The 16-valve intercooled turbocharged engine of the SUV is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and will churn out a maximum power of 175bhp and a peak torque of 40.4kgm. The ground clearance of the SUV is around 215mm.

Honda reveals 1.6-litre diesel engine

Honda has unveiled its new 1.6-litre diesel engine at the 82nd Geneva Motor Show. Honda claims that this 1.6-litre engine is the lightest engine in its class which will emit up to 95g/km of CO2 and it will be the first in a series of efficient units under the Earth Dreams Technology banner.

The new 1.6-litre engine of Honda has an engine displacement of 1596cc and will churn out a peak power of 118bhp at 4000rpm and 30.55kgm of maximum torque at 2000rpm. By this year end, the new Civic will feature this 1.6-litre diesel engine.

Mr.Manuba Nishiru, Honda Motor Europe president said that with their Earth Dream Technology, they aim to be number one in terms of engine emissions within three years.

Tata Motors unveils MegaPixel concept

As mentioned earlier today, Tata Motors has showcased the MegaPixel concept at the 82nd Geneva Motor Show held today. The new four-seater MegaPixel is a city-smart global range extended electric vehicle (REEV) concept.

The MegaPixel features four electric motors that are mounted on each wheel. The motors are powered by a 13kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery pack offering an all-electric range of 86km. The petrol option is powered by a 325cc single cylinder engine delivering a power of 30bhp. The petrol motor of MegaPixel reaches over 900km and offers a top-speed of 110kmph.

The turning circle of the MegaPixel is around 5.6 metres which stands as its impressive feature. MegaPixel also features double sliding doors and accommodates a wide range of power train options including hybrid and full-electric sources. The interior looks spacious holding a large touchscreen sits in the centre console. The next-gen Nano for the European market could borrow the styling cues from the MegaPixel.

Telang, Managing Director – India Operations, Tata Motors, said, “The Tata Megapixel, developed by our design centres in India, the UK and Italy, is our idea of a city car for discerning motorists in any megacity of the world. It is a result of the progress we have made on the Tata Pixel, displayed last year, and also denotes the company’s future design direction.”

Tata to display MegaPixel at the Geneva Auto Show

Today, at the Geneva Motor show, Tata Motors will unveil its MegaPixel concept car. The MegaPixel concept features a more feasible design and looks very stylish. The concept does not feature a scissor-door as like the concept which was showcased at the last year Geneva Show and at the 2012 Auto Expo. The MegaPixel has been equipped with a wide range of power train options including hybrid and full-electric sources. The Next-Gen Nano for the European market may borrow the styling cues from the MegaPixel.

Ford Ecosport to get a new Ecoboost engine

Ford plans to offer a new 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine to its upcoming high-performance cars. This new tiny engine of Ford features a twin sequential turbocharging which helps in delivering an extra-ordinary power output of 177bhp.
