BharatBenz launches all-new 16-tonne intercity coach

Bharat benz today launched new inter city to strengthen its portfolio and to take on the competitors. Targeted at the growing segment of inter-city travel, the 16-tonne, 238 hp (175 kW) front-engine coach complements BharatBenz’ successful portfolio of school, staff and tourist buses in the 9-tonne category, which have been available since the end of 2015.

 Speaking at the launch event, Mr. Markus Villinger, Managing Director Daimler Buses India said: “We designed the all-new BharatBenz intercity coach to take inter-city travel to the next level: a safer and more comfortable experience for passengers and drivers, and more value for operators at the same time.  Crafted for passenger comfort

With its optimized wheelbase, the 12-meter BharatBenz intercity coach ensures best-in-class cabin space distribution for easy seating, offering 790 mm of legroom for passengers. Refined interiors and wider windows provide for a relaxed journey with panoramic views. The front and rear air suspensions are calibrated with chassis performance to minimize impacts of road undulations. Overall, the vehicle also offers a more quiet ride thanks to its unique open saloon design which enhances acoustic insulation despite a front mounted engine. A powerful air conditioner with engine driven compressor assures not only a pleasant cabin environment for passengers but also a workplace for drivers that helps them to stay alert.

 Built for safer travel

The BharatBenz intercity coach adopts a holistic approach towards safety and is fitted with a comprehensive range of seamlessly integrated active and passive safety features. The robust aluminique body meets the stringent safety standards for roll over as per the AIS-031 CMUR Bus Body Code. Fabricated without any welded parts, the lightweight structure not only gives extra strength to the vehicle but also lowers its centre of gravity, which provides extra stability to the vehicle. The wider brake lining (410 x 220 for all four tyres) guarantees effective braking leading to a better braking distance. With regard to interiors, the vinyl flooring comes with an anti-skid top layer and fire retardant materials which are carefully designed to ensure a safe walkway for passengers in case of emergency situations.

 

Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade booking open in India

Ford India today introduced sharper and spirited ‘Sports Editions’ of hatchback Figo and compact sedan Aspire, further enhancing the fun-to-drive credentials of its two popular and extremely capable models.

TVS Motor Company Sales grow by 10% in March 2017

TVS Motor Company posted a sales growth of 10% during the month of March 2017, with total sales increasing from 232,517 units recorded in the month of March 2016 to 256,341 units in the month of March 2017.

Two-Wheeler

Total two-wheeler sales increased by 10.7% from 226,643 units recorded in March 2016 to 250,979 units in March 2017. Domestic two-wheelers sales grew by 8.4% from 200,190 units in March 2016 to 216,995 units registered in March 2017.

Scooter sales of the Company grew by 23.5% increasing from 68,161 units in March 2016 to 84,173 units in March 2017. Motorcycles sales grew by 10.3% increasing from 86,776 units in the month of March 2016 to 95,671 units in March 2017.

Three-Wheeler

Three-wheeler of the Company registered sales of 5,362 units in March 2017 as against 5,874 units in March 2016.

Exports

The Company’s total exports grew by 23.6% increasing from 31,121 units in March 2016 to 38,462 units in the month of March 2017. Two-wheeler exports registered growth of 28.5% increasing from 26,453 units in March 2016 to 33,984 units in March 2017.

Fourth Quarter Sales Performance

During the fourth quarter of the current financial year, two-wheeler sales grew by 3.2 % increasing from 6.39 lakh units registered in the fourth quarter of the previous year to 6.59 lakh units in the quarter under review. Three-wheeler sales of the Company was at 0.15 lakh units in the fourth quarter of the current year as against 0.21 lakh units in the fourth quarter of the previous year.

Transition from Bharat Stage III (BS III) to Bharat Stage IV (BS IV)

The Company had commenced manufacture and sale of BS IV compliant stocks much before the transition date of March 31, 2017.  Consequently, the stocks of BS III compliant products with the dealers were progressively coming down.  However, on March 29, 2017 by its order, the Honourable Supreme Court of India permitted sale of such BS III emission compliant products only up to March 31, 2017.  Accordingly, the Company within the framework provided by the court order extended suitable required support to the dealers to enable them to offer attractive incentive schemes to customers to sell the BS III compliant stocks. The dealers have confirmed that majority of such stocks have been sold by March 31, 2017.  The Company is assessing the one-time impact of this transition on the financials of the Company.

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) closed financial year 2016-17 on a historic high and created new records in challenging market scenario.

Sharing highlights of Honda’s performance in FY’16-17, Mr. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said,
“In the beginning of FY’2016-17 especially after monsoon and 7th CPC, industry was hopeful of double digit growth. The second half was however a challenging time and two-wheeler industry closed the fiscal with only 5% growth. In this context, we are humbled by the confidence of customers in Honda brand. India is now firmly leading the Honda DNA worldwide. We thank customers for making Honda 2Wheelers India the first 100% subsidiary of Honda Motor Company, Japan globally to ever achieve 5 million sales landmark in a single financial year. Honda is today the highest volume gainer as well as the market share gainer of the industry. We are confident that 2017-18 will be a landmark year and Honda 2Wheelers will change the way India and the world will ride home.”

Honda 2Wheelers India closed FY’2016-17 with all time high total sales of 5,008,103 units.
Total sales grew at 12% (which is more than double the 5% growth of total industry in the same period) over 4,483,462 units sold in FY’15-16.

Honda’s accelerated growth made it the No. 1 volume gainer of the industry (Honda 2Wheelers India alone contributed 54% to the additional industry volumes) & No. 1 market share gainer of the industry (Only company to gain 1% market share to 27% in domestic and 25% in total sales in FY’16-17).

Honda’s total automatic scooter sales crossed 3 million mark for the first time ever to reach at 3,351,604 units with 16% growth compared to 2,892,480 units in FY’15-16.

Despite export industry de-growing by -6% in FY’16-17, exports was the strongest gain point.

Honda’s exports grew by an overwhelming 41% increasing from 200,114 units in FY’15-16 to 283,153 units in FY’16-17.
