A new compact hatchback car from Nissan is expected for the kick off in July 2010, said its CEO. This will be carried out by the Chennai plant when it gets ready then. This plant will feed as the sourcing hub for this compact car to be exported to Europe. The CEO was in the country to launch EVM Nissan dealership and disclosed that the production of global compact car will cover five nations China, India, Thailand and Mexico and a new one. Form these units the company targets to deliver one lakh cars a year by 2013.
Nissan has got 5.5% in the global market share and seeks to attain that much in the Indian market. The ensuing Chennai plant will be able to export from the second half of 2010 and can reach the figure of 110000 units in 2011 covering more than 100 countries. After establishing in the Europe the company may reach the figure of 180000 units. According to the Vice-Chairman and MD of Hover Automotive India ( on behalf of Nissan’s marketing) said the dealership numbers will be increased to 55 in another two years.
