Maruti, the largest car manufacturer in India may recall 1.5 lakh units of Swift Dzire compact sedan. The new Dzire, second largest selling car in the country has a problem with fuel neck filler which is connected to the fuel tank. The company will replace the faulty fuel neck filler in the affected models. The recall will include the affected Dzire cars manufactured in 2013 and 2014.
The source person said, “Out of the 1.5 lakh units affected under the recall, some are still in the dealerships. The supplier has already been informed of the defect and has started making the replacement parts”
Last year, the company had recalled the models like Swift, Dzire, Ertiga and A-Star for faulty steering column. The last major recall was done by the company in February 2010. At that time the company had recalled 1lakh units of A-Star in order to replace a faulty fuel pump gasket. It also included the exporting models for that recall. If Maruti recall the Dzire models for fuel neck filler issue, then it will be the major recall in the country for only one model.
