Honda which recently pulled off Formula one championship and announced cancellation of its NSX project on account of global meltdown, says there is no change in proposed plan for the Indian market. Honda has confirmed the launch of its new “A” segment small car in India. The new A-segment which Honda will produce in its Rajasthan plant will be positioned below the Jazz – Honda’s upcoming model. Honda’s new A-segement car will be in the likes of Suzuki Alto (A-star) and Hyundai i10. Honda will produce the new small car with minimal reliance of imported raw materials. Honda’s Indian small car will hit the market by 2011.

City Diesel:
What could be most exciting news for Honda fans, “a city diesel is on the cards” says Honda. Honda has confirmed that it is developing of a small displacement turbodiesel engine, that can power the Honda City and small cars. 1.4 or 1.5 liter oil burner producing power in various stages of tune ranging from about 60hp to 100hp. These diesele engine will make into the hood of Jazz and City. Going by the support Honda received for petrol models, Jazz diesel and City diesel might sell like hot cakes.
