Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (NML) has announced that Shohei Kimura has been named Vice President, India Project, NML. He will be based at the company’s headquarters until his move to India. Kimura will be the head for Nissan’s business interests and activities in India. Kimura will eventually assume the role of Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NMIPL. Kimura will work closely with Yoshie Motohiro, who will continue to oversee the marketing and sales function of Nissan India. Since its establishment in February 2005, Nissan Motor India Private Limited (NMIPL) has been engaged in import and distribution of Nissan vehicles namely the X-TRAIL and Teana, as well as sales promotion and market research in India. Together with its Alliance partner, Renault, Nissan is now in the process of establishing a plant in Chennai, extending NMIPL’s function to include manufacturing.
