Car rally for visually impaired

UCAL rally for the visually impaired organized by Madras Motors Sports Club (mmsci) and National Association of Blind (NAB) turn 17 on 2nd March 2008. The annual car rally is a unique event that promotes participation of visually impaired persons in a motoring event. Participating drivers are given authorised blind navigators who read maps in Braille. There were four categories — expert, for teams that have won earlier; regular, for teams that have participated earlier; novices and all ladies. The rally takes place around the roads of Chennai for about 60kms. Over 60 entries were made for this event and this turned into fun event for all those participated. “It gives confidence and seeds a relationship between the abled and disabled people” said Deepthi of National Association of Blind. Here are few snaps from the rally.
