Bajaj is ready to launch its quadricycle RE60 and waiting for the approval from the government. The company has showcased the production model of RE60 at the 2014 Auto Expo.
Bajaj Auto President Commercial Vehicles, R C Maheshwari said: “Two years back, we had showcased the RE60… Today we are ready for commercial production of this vehicle. We are just awaiting government notification. Once the government notifies the quadricycle norm, creating a separate category, then it will take the company about 2-4 months for ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) certification. If all goes well, our expectation is that launching the RE60 should be possible by September-October this year. He said the company has set up a production capacity of 200 units per day at the company’s Aurangabad plant, from where it rolls out three-wheelers.”
Bajaj RE60 will be available in three variants with two different types of seating configuration. It includes seat belts at the both front and rear. Bajaj RE60 is powered by a 216cc, liquid cooled, 4 valve, triple spark with Fuel Injection (FI) engine with 5 speed manual transmission. The engine can churn out maximum power of 20 bhp. The fuel options of Bajaj RE60 are CNG, LPG and Gasoline. It can provide the fuel efficiency 37km/l. It has the carbon foot print of 60g/km. It can provide a top speed of 70 km/hr .We can expect the Bajaj RE60 at Rs.1.95 lakhs which is more expensive than a three wheeler.
