Yamaha Ray-ZR was introduced in India at the 2016 Auto Expo Event. The 110cc scooter has now been replaced by the Ray-ZR 125 which is nothing but its 125cc version. The Ray-ZR 125 has been specifically designed targeting the young Indian men. It is available in both front drum and front disc brake variants. The engine powering the scooter is the same 125cc fuel-injected BS6 motor that powers the new Fascino. This motor churns out 8.2PS power and 9.7Nm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) unit. For better handling, the scooter has been offered with a telescopic front suspension and a monoschock absorber at the rear. The highlight features of the scooter include the presence of alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, a separate house for indicators along side the headlamp as well as air inlets behind the rider's leg and below the seat. The additional features when compared with the Ray-ZR include LED DRLs, a digital instrument console, and ‘Quiet Engine Start’ (similar to Honda’s silent-start system) and side stand engine cutoff. The competitors of the Yamaha Ray-ZR 125 include the TVS NTorq 125 and the Honda Grazia.
