Hero MotoCorp has launched the Xtreme 160R in both drum and disc brake versions that are currently available in price tag of Rs.1,03,900 and Rs.1,06,950 (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. The Xtreme 160R features a sharp, muscular styling with a blacked-out finish handlebar, powertrain and alloy wheels while the rear grab rail has been integrated into the bodywork. The bike has been offered with lots of technical and aesthetic changes over the old Xtreme model. It is the only motorcycle in its segment to get all-LED lighting i.e. LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, and LED turn indicators. Its full-digital instrument console features a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, fuel gauge, and clock. Another segment-first feature of the bike is the presence of a Hazard lamp. The Hero Xtreme 160R is powered by a BS6-compliant air-cooled fuel-injected motor that generates 15.2PS power and 14Nm of peak torque. The engine gets mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The Hero Xtreme 160R gets a diamond-type frame with telescopic forks and a 7-step preload-adjustable monoshock. Braking is via a 276mm front disc brake and 130mm drum (optional 220mm disc) brake with single-channel ABS as standard. The Hero Xtreme 160R takes on the likes of its rivals the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Suzuki Gixxer BS6, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V BS6, and Yamaha FZ FI V3 BS6.
