Zest – the new compact sedan (earlier known as Tata Falcon 5 and Manza CS)  is the real hope of Tata Motors to regain its lost sales. Zest will take on the mighty Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze. Zest will be powered by new 1.2L Revotron turbo petrol engine developing 100bhp.  However the big surprise would be Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) that will be mated with the Tata Zest turbo petrol engine. Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) is now quiet popular as Maruti introduced it in the celerio. Ever since the Maruti announced celerio Ez-drive (AMT), there are speculation that Tata would soon get the AMT in its vehicle.  Maruti is working italian technical partner magneti marelli which in turn was a Fiat’s subsidiary. Tata is already having many joint ventures with Fiat.

Tata zest will be india’s first sedan to come with automated manual transmission (AMT). AMT is nothing but a regular manual transmission which changes gears with the help of ECU. You will get the normal gearbox. The AMT uses manual shift patterns at the gear lever but without the physical input for the clutch. While ECU will take care of thee clutch the gear shifting will be taken car by the driver. By relieving the driver from engaging and disengaging the clutch, the stress of driving through stop-start traffic is also reduced considerably

 

 

 

Tata is all set to launch a new SUV nearly after a decade. Tata launched sumo and safari almost a decade back. Though tata launched number of facelifts and upgraded models in the form sumo grande mark II and safari storme. But these models has not hit jackpot yet. The sales have been less than average. Tata aria – India’s first crossover bombed at the market.

Tata hopes to regain its dominance with the launch of an all new SUV called NEXON.  It was earlier thought it would be named as Bolt. Nexon will debut in the hotter compact suv segment currently dominated by Ford Ecosport and Renault Duster. Tata Nexon built on the vista’s X1 platform. However the styling will be all new.  The new design language and new engine options will be the highlight of Tata Nexon. Tata Nexon will be powered by 1.2L Revotron petrol engine and an all new in-house developed diesel engine. Tata Nexon will also showcase the Nexon SUV at the 2014 geneva auto expo. Tata Nexon will hit the market in 2015.

Skoda today showcased the 2014 superb in India at a special ceremony in the czech embassy. The facelifted superb carry forward the new design theme of skoda cars. New octavia launched in 2013 was the first to come with new family face. Skoda superb facelift gets a new butteryfly  grille, two -tone skoda logo, redesigned front fascia and headlamps. Skoda has also added bi-xenon headlights and led daytime running lights. The rear bumper, spoiler and boot lid have all been tweaked to look more angular and the number plate has now been moved to the boot lid from the bumper. The new helix alloys adds flair to superb side profile. The changes are cosmetic with no mechanical changes. The price of 2014 superb will be announced at the auto expo.

 

 

Datsun plans to debut its entry level sedan at the 2014 Moscow motor show which will be held in the month of August. The entry level low cast sedan has spotted in Russia without mask. Lada Granta platform is the base for this Sedan. The company does not reveal the name of this sedan.

Nissan India, Vice President, Ajay Raghuvanshi had earlier confirmed that this sedan was not make it to India. From the pictures, the Sedan gets Datsun grille, sculpted bonnet and a smaller tip at the edge of the boot lid. The boot lid includes Datsun logo as well as a horizontal chrome strip. Datsun plans to unveil its I2 small car in the concept form at 2014 Auto Expo.

Aquila 250, DSK – Hyosung’s cruiser will be launched on Feb 6 at the auto expo. But before that here are the specifications and price of the bike for you. Hyosung Aquila 250 powered by a V-twin cylinder engine generates 24.51bhp of peak power at 9000rpm and 20Nm of peak torque at 7000rpm. The 8-valve, DOHC, Oil cooled engine is mated with a 5-speed gearbox. Aquila 250 is capable of hitting a top whack of 128kmph.

Hyosung Aquila 250 will be available in multiple colours including red,white and black. The price is expected to be range of Rs2,75lakhs. Few dealers have started accepting booking quote the on road price to be Rs3.06 lakhs.
