Maruti launches Celerio at Rs.3.90 lakh

Maruti Suzuki launches Celerio AMT starts at Rs. 4.29 lakh. The price of the base variant stars at Rs. 3.90 lakh. The new hatchback is available in three options namely LXi, VXi and ZXi. The car will come in seven attractive color shades namely Red, Blue, Black, Sunshine Ray, Grey, Silver and White. Maruti Celerio comes with a 998cc, 3 cylinder engine which churns out the maximum power output of 68 PS @ 6000 RPM in combination with the maximum torque of 90 NM @ 3500 RPM. The car is mated with either five speed manual transmission or an automated manual transmission. The Celerio is believed to deliver a healthy mileage of around 23.1 kmpl.

The dimensions of Maruti Celerio in terms of its length, width and height includes 3600 mm, 1600 mm and 1560 mm respectively. The car also provides the wheelbase of around 2425 mm and ground clearance of 165mm. The hatchback gives a turning radius of 4.7 m and the kerb weight of the car ranges between 810-830 kg.

The high end variant ZXi is packed with exciting features such as 2-DIN music system, Bluetooth connectivity, fog lights, alloy wheels, ABS, dual front airbags for the driver and passenger etc. The AMT technology of the Celerio is reserved only for the base LXi and VXi variants.

The Maruti Celerio is well embedded with a dual tone interiors with a maximize space for utility storages like bottle holders, map pockets etc. It has an option of 60:40 split flexibility in the rear seats in order to increase the luggage capacity with a boot space of 235 litres.

Sachin Tendulkar unveils BMW i8 Hybrid

The “God of Cricket” and brand ambassador for BMW, Sachin Tendulkar unveiled BMW i8, Hybrid sports car on Wednesday at the 2014 Auto Expo.

BMW Group India President Philipp von Sahr said,”The intelligent plug-in hybrid system in the BMW i8 combines the benefits of an electric motor and a petrol engine into an extraordinary driving experience.”

BMW i8 gets a 1.5 litre, twin-turbocharged, triple cylinder petrol engine. The combination of petrol engine and an electric motor can churn out 362 bhp of maximum power and 570 Nm of maximum torque output. The petrol engine can deliver maximum power output of 231 bhp and 320 Nm. The electric motor can produce net power of 131 bhp and net torque of 250 Nm. It can offer a top speed of 250kmph.We can expect the fuel efficiency of 50 kmpl from this car.

Mahindra new electric car – Halo

Mahindra has unveiled the Halo, a two door, two seater electric sports car concept.The aerodynamic, slick and stylish India’s first electric concept 2-seater sports car – the Halo introduced by Mahindra Reva at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014. The unparalleled acceleration with the boost mode promises to zip 0-100 kmph in less than 8 sec. The Halo with a top speed of 160 kmph gives a range of 200 kms on full charge. This next generation connected electric vehicle has advanced safety features, dual touchscreen infotainment system and high end connectivity. The Halo is built in India and designed at Mahindra Reva studio, is Mahindra’s technology demonstrator for the fast growing electric global car market.

Mahindra & Mahindra,Executive Director and President (Automotive and Farm Equipment sectors) Pawan Goenka said, “There is a plan to commercialize Halo, we are working on a bigger power train and a final design. It will take about three years to be production ready”.

It will be powered by an electric motor which can generate maximum power output of 140 bhp.It will go on sale by 2015-2016.It will be available in India as well as the International markets.

Tata Nano automatic displayed at 2014 Auto Expo

Tata has unveiled its Nano Twist with an opening tail gate and an Automated Manual Transmission(AMT).The Nano AMT will be the cheapest car with AMT.It gets F-Tronic five speed box with a mechatronic unit.The AMT fitted F-Tronic range of cars has been developed by Magneti Marelli,the leading supplier of transmission for the Formula 1 motor sports race cars.

The F-Tronic is an electro – hydraulic mechanism and is based on an electronic control unit and a hydraulic system that supervises the use of clutch and the gear shifting thus, allowing the driver to change gear without having to controlling the clutch either sequentially or fully automatically. This technology will encompass petrol for the first time in India ,in Diesel which will be available in the New Zest.

This advanced technology controls the drive of the car in the same manner as the driver would. It opens and closes the clutch, encages and disengages the gears and when necessary it also provides the choice of transmission (automatic or sequential mode for changing the gear). The Nano AMT is expected to go on sale by 2015.
