Datsun to launch GO hatchback by mid March

Datsun plans to launch GO in the country by mid of this month. The Datsun Go hatchback is based on Nissan’s Micra V platform. It will be available with three variants. It is expected to be priced in the range between Rs.3.5 lakh to Rs.3.8 lakh. We can expect the starting price of GO at Rs.3 lakhs.

The Datsun GO measures 3785 mm in length, 1635 mm in width and 1485 mm in height. The wheelbase of the car is 2450 mm while the ground clearance is 170 mm. The fuel tank capacity of the car is 35 litres. It will be powered by the same 1.2 litre, 3 cylinder petrol engine from the Nissan Micra. It can produce 68 PS of maximum power and 104 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is coupled to 5 speed manual gearbox. The engine can return an overall mileage of 20.6 kmpl.

This hatchback will include the Mcpherson struts suspension at the front and torsion beam at the rear. The front of the Go will get the ventilated disc brake while the rear will include drum brake. Datsun has fixed the booking amount as Rs.11, 000 and the amount will be refunded to the buyers if the launch price is not satisfied. The product delivery will begin by the end of this month.

Piaggio to launch Vespa 946 in next three months

Piaggio, the Italian two wheeler manufacturer plans to bring Vespa 946 in next three months. It is to be priced in the range between Rs.8 lakh to Rs.10 lakh. The company will be sold the Vespa 946 as a Completely Built Units (CBU). Vespa 946 will get an attractive floating seat.

It  gets aluminium metal body with welded reinforcements. It will be powered by a 150cc, single cylinder, four stroke, and electronic fuel injection engine with catalytic converter. The engine is coupled to Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT). The engine can generate 13 hp of maximum power and maximum torque output of 12.6 Nm.

Piaggio India , MD, Ravi Chopra said,  “Vespa 946 scooter, which will be priced at Rs 8-9 lakh, is aimed at the collectors and the people who are passionate about such offerings. Vespa 946 will come with lots of exciting features such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with ASR traction control, advanced electronic system and Thermal dissipation system in LED front head light. The use of this advanced electronic system is to avoid skidding of rear wheel.

Hero to launch updated Karizma, Xtreme and Pleasure

Hero Motocorp plans to launch updated Karizma ZMR, Karizma R, Xtreme and Pleasure on this month. Hero has also showcased its new products at the 2014 Auto Expo.  Now it plans to bring their updated models in the country. The company had unveiled its new karizma R and ZMR in last year.  The both Karizma R and Karizma ZMR receive more changes in terms of design and also the engine updates. The new Pleasure gets an important update, new integrated braking system which is same as to the Combi-braking system from Maestro. The updated Xtreme also get more interesting changes.

The Karizma R comes with scintillating body graphics, dual dynamic head lamps, astra gold front and rear disc brakes, integrated LED tail lamp and digital analogue meter console. It can produce maximum power output of 19.2 bhp. The claimed 0-60 km/hr time is 3.6 seconds.

Karizma ZMR

The new Karizma gets the features like the digital system, suspension and wheels. It comes with five spoke wheels, telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers at the front and Swing arm with adjustable type hydraulic shock absorber at the rear. Karizma ZMR can produce maximum power output of 20 bhp and maximum torque of 19.7Nm at 6500 rpm. It is expected that the updated ZMR is to be priced higher than the previous model.

Xtreme 

The updated Xtreme will be available as the standard and also Sport. It will come with revised tank, revised instrument console and new 3D logo and new panels at rear. The bike gets the same alloy wheels as in the exisiting models and front mudguard. It offers disc brake at the both front and rear. It will be the first one to get engine immobilizer system.

Hero has unveiled the another one model, Xtreme Sports at the 2014 Auto Expo. It comes with a single-cylinder, 150 cc power train option which can develop maximum power of 15.2 bhp with maximum torque of 12.8 Nm. The engine is coupled to a five-speed gearbox. It receives a new headlamp with LED position lights. It also includes telescopic hydraulic front suspension and an adjustable gas reservoir swing arm rear suspension.

Pleasure

Hero had showcased their new Pleasure with IBS (Integrated Braking System) at the press conference in last year. The updated pleasure is the 100cc scooter mainly targeted to women.

The IBS (Integrated Braking System) is a System which is used to link the front and rear brakes of a scooter. IBS is a new feature in terms of safety which is specially designed by the R&D department of Hero. Hero Motocorp has applied patent for this IBS. The IBS system is different from the Combi –Brake System of Honda. The Combi-Brake system does not work when only the front brake is applied by the user. It is the main difference between the Combi –Brake System and IBS (Integrated Braking System).

The new Pleasure comes with features like a mobile charger socket, boot light in luggage box, a lockable glove box, combination ignition lock with seat opening and side stand indicators

Hyosung to launch GD250N by April

DSK Hyosung, the Korean motorcycle manufacturer plans to launch GD250N in next month. The GD250N will be powered by an all new 250cc, single-cylinder, liquid cooled engine with six speed gearbox. The engine can churn out maximum power output of 28 bhp and maximum torque output of 24 Nm.

It will include inverted forks suspension at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear. The GD250N will receive 300mm and 230 mm disk brake at both front and rear. It is expected to include fully loaded digital instrument cluster. It will get 17” alloy wheels.

The split seats and underbelly exhaust and muscular looks is sure to grab eyeballs. We can expect the price of GD250N in the range between Rs.1.6 lakhs to 1.8 lakhs. It will compete with the bike KTM Duke 200.

Hyundai to launch Xcent on March 12

Hyundai, the South Korean manufacturer plans to launch their Xcent, compact sedan on March 12. The company had already unveiled this compact sedan in the country before the 2014 Auto Expo.  It measures 3990 mm in length. It will get the same 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.1 litre diesel engine options. So we can expect the same power and torque output figures. The both engines will be mated to 5 speed manual transmission as a standard. The petrol engine will also offer the four speed automatic gear box option.

This sub four metre sedan  will come with lots of exciting features such as rear parking sensors, push button start, an USB port audio system with 1GB inbuilt memory and also the Grand i10’s rear air-con vents. It will get the same wheelbase from the Grand i10 hatchback. It will include the McPherson strut suspension at the front and coupled torsion beam axle suspension at rear.

The top level trims will offer some features additionally like dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), steering mounted audio controls, automatic climate control and rear view camera. Hero to launch a new scooter Duet by next year

Hero Motorcorp has unveiled their new range of products including the new scooters and also motorcycles in the 2014 Auto Expo.  It has showcased the new model scoters such as Dare, Dash and Zir.  It has also unveiled concept bikes like RNT Diesel concept, leap-hybrid scooter concept, ioN and SimplEcity. The Hastur, HX250R, Splendor Pro Classic, Passion Pro TR, Xtreme Sports are the upcoming bike models from Hero.

Now the company is also planning to launch one more scooter, Duet. Hero did not display this Duet scooter at the Expo.  It will launch this Duet scooter by next year. The Duet will be the cheapest one when compared to other scooters in the same segment.

The Duet scooter will get more features from the ZIR scooter. It is expected to get the same 110cc single cylinder power train from the new scooter Dash which was already showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. It does not reveal any information regarding the power and torque figures.

Pulsar SS200 Vs Pulsar SS400

Bajaj has unveiled its all new Super Sport motorcycle SS400 along with the Cruiser Sports bike, CS400 at the 2014 Auto Expo. Now the company is planning to launch the younger sibling of its Pulsar SS400. The Pulsar SS200 will enter into the country first, followed by the SS400. Here you can find out the overall difference between the Pulsar SS400 and Pulsar SS200.

There are two main differences between the Pulsar SS400 and Pulsar SS200. The first thing is Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The Pulsar SS200 will  not include the ABS. The overall weight of the bike is smaller than the SS400.

The front eyebrow graphics of SS200 is different when compared to the SS400. The SS200 does not get the dark shade. It has broad and small white outline. The third difference is falling light brown line which is not seen in the Pulsar SS200. The pulsar SS400 gets the yellow shade in the side of headlamps while the Pulsar SS200 gets the black shade.

The Pune – based motorcycle manufacturer has showcased their Pulsar SS400 in Bright yellow shade. The same colour will be available in Pulsar SS200 also. The Pulsar SS200 will offer more colour options including Sky Blue. The SS200 will be positioned between the Pulsar 200NS and also the KTM Duke 200.

The Pulsar SS200 will get 199.5cc, four stoke, liquid cooled, single cylinder, Fuel-Injected (FI) engine. The engine can generate maximum power output of 23.52 PS at 9500 rpm and peak torque of 18.3 Nm at 8000 rpm. While the Pulsar SS400 will include 375cc, four stroke, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, Fuel-Injected (FI) power train option. The both power trains will be mated to six-speed gearbox.

The Pulsar SS200 gets the same parts from its Sibling Pulsar SS400 such as pointed visor, LED pilot lamps, telescopic shark absorbers and two tone front fairing.

KTM and Kawasaki have announced the updated of prices of its product portfolio as per excise duty cut. Here you can check out the prices of KTM as well as Kawasaki models in the country.

In news that would bring a smile to motorcycle fans of the country, KTM India has lowered the prices of both its models in the country the 200 Duke and the 390 Duke. The 390 Duke is now priced at Rs. 1,80,942 (Ex-Showroom New Delhi) which means a price reduction of almost Rs. 5600 while the 200 Duke is now priced at Rs. 130787 (Ex-Showroom New Delhi) resulting in a price reduction of almost Rs. 4,500.

KTM, Vice President, Mr. Amit Nandi said, ‘We have decided to pass on the entire benefit of the excise duty cut to our customers. Sales of both the 200 and the 390 Duke has been constantly on the rise and the revised prices will ensure even faster growth’.

Royal Enfield to introduce a new 400cc Engine

Royal Enfield has been working on  an all new 400 cc single-cylinder engine. The new engine is derived from the single-cylinder 346 cc engine which is already employed in the models like Classic 350 as well as Bullet 350.The power of this 400 cc engine will be in the range between the power of its 350cc motorcycle and 500cc motorcycle. The 346cc engine can develop maximum power output of 19.8 bhp and maximum torque output of 28 Nm.

The 499cc engine can deliver peak power of 27.2 bhp and 41.3 Nm of peak torque. Both engines are mated to 5 speed gearbox. The new motorcycle will be priced in the range between the 350cc motor cycle and 500cc motorcycle. We can expect the price of new 400cc motorcycle in the range between Rs.1lakhs to Rs.1.5 lakhs

A person who involved in this 400cc engine development of Royal Enfield  said, “Royal Enfield is working to develop a new engine with a slightly bigger displacement (measuring nearly 400cc) than its current 346cc, single-cylinder powertrain. It essentially is a substantial modification; using enhanced dimensions, which also requires a lot of hard work.New connecting rods, crankshafts and other crucial changes need to be made to the existing 346cc platform.”
