Ultra’s new Marathon EV

After parting ways with Hero Group, UK based Ultra Motor has come up with a new electric scooter called Marathon. The Marathon electric scooter has a top speed of 25kmph. As per the Motor Vehicles Act Marathon riders does not requires registration and license. According to Ultra Motors,Marathon can go up to 100km in a single charge. The marathon electric scooter is priced Rs35,240 in Chennai.

Suzuki to launch Hayabusa and GSX-R 1000cc in India

Your diwali gift cannot be more special than this. If you have Rs11 lakhs from this september you can vromm legally in world’s fastest bike. Suzuki has finalised its plan to launch the Hayabusa in India. The Hayabusa which is powered by  1340cc in line 4 engine is a dream bike for every bike fanatic. The bike earned more fame in India when actor John Abraham rode the bike in Dhoom. With the launch of Hayabusa Suzuki becomes the third bike maker to foray into the superbike segment in India. Yamaha and Ducati has already launched superbikes ranging from Rs10 lakh to Rs47 lakh in India.Suzuki will also introduce its second superbike the GSX-R 1000cc in India by November this year. The Hayabusa which is powered by  1340cc in line 4 engine is likely to cost an astounding Rs 11 lakh and that explains why the company does not expect big numbers. “We will launch the bike in the first week of September,” said Atul gupta, vice-president, sales and marketing, Suzuki Motorcycle India. “The demand for big bikes is actually more of a hype. Cumulatively these bikes sell only about 400 units per annum and we don’t expect volumes as well. Alongwith the GXR we will probably do 150 units per annum.” Similar to any other manufacturer Suzuki also feels the 105 per cent import duty on CBU will push the price to the skies and will attract very few customer. “India is not the place for these bikes. We don’t have the roads like they have in developed countries for them and it is not fun to ride them at say 70 km per hour,” Gupta said. “We are nevertheless launching the Hayabusa because it will showcase our strength as a bike manufacturer. Moreover these are already available in the grey market so we might as well legalise them.”

Chevrolet Spark is now Rs2.66 lakh

Once again Chevrolet has come up with an exciting discount for its hatchback spark. The spark will be available at a starting price of Rs 2.66 lakh for a limited period. “The special price is the result of improved localisation of the Spark coming out of operational efficiencies due to increase in production volume,” GM India Vice president for Marketing Ankush Arora was quoted in a company release today. The last date for the special offer price would be announced by the GM soon. Chevrolet made a similar announcement through which the company discounted Rs53000 on the spark and sold more than 10000 units of spark during that period.

Volkswagen plans cheaper passat and Passat CC

Volkswagen plans to come up with a cheaper variant of its passat saloon soon. Volkswagen launched passat in india in september 2007 with a Pumpe Duse Engine.Volkswagen passat is available in the price band of Rs 22.35 lakh – Rs 24.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). When Honda Accord is making 100’s of sales every month, very few passat’s have moved out of the showroom. To boost the sales, Volkswagen will launch a cheaper version of the Passat powered by a common-rail engine.  The new Passat will have a manual gearbox and a DSG variant of the car will be launched subsequently.Volkswagen’s new passat will hit the showroom in October. The new passat will be priced around Rs 20 lakh to take on the new accord and the camry.

Passat CC:

Volkswagen also plan to roll out the new Passat CC model in India. Inspired by the Merecedes CLS Vlokswagen engineers designed the passat CC.   The four-door “coupe” is based off the Passat platform and carries over several of the standard sedan’s cues, but the sleek shape of the plummeting C-pillar, shortened rear overhang and revised fascia make it considerably more upmarket

Volkswagen to launch Jetta in India

Volkswagen is gearing up to launch the much touted Jetta sedan in India. The new Jetta will add to Volkswagen Indian product range from mid July. Jetta is produced by Volkswagen since 1979 and is very popular in western countries. The car is well known for its safety and solid nature among consumers across the world. Volkswagen which currently sells passat and Touraeg hopes to achieve a significant market share in the entry D Segment. Jetta will compete against the Civic, Corolla and Sonata Embera here. Jetta is a booted version of Volkswagen popular hatchback Golf. Similar to any other VW cars, Jetta is solid and planted on the raod like a tank. The cabin reflect luxury at any point and complements its exterior styling.Jetta will come with two engine options –  1.6L petrol and 1.9L diesel. The 1.6L petrol engine develops 102PS at 5600 rpm and 148Nm of max torque at 3800 rpm. According to Volkswagen, jetta can reach a top speed of 186 kph and can be accelerated from 0 to 100 kph in just 12.2 seconds. The 1.9L TDI is the same engine that is currently under the hood of the laura. The 1.9L cranks out 105PS of max power. The 250Nm of peak torque is available from 1900 rpm.The new jetta might come in three variants – trendline petrol, trendline diesel and comfortline diesel.The comfortline variant of diesel jetta will come with the 6 speed automatic DSG gearbox. Other variants will come with 5 speed manual transmission. All the variants of Jetta will come with a wide range of luxury features like automatic driving light control,6cd changer and leather upholseteries. Expect the jetta at around Rs13 lakhs.

TVS net profit skids

A 52 percent drop in profit reported by TVS pushed the TVS scrip to a 52 week low. The shares of TVS shed more than 3 per cent after the announcement. TVS scrip touched a 52-week low of Rs 25.20. TVS reported a revenue of Rs 3,291 crore for the year ended March 31, 2008, down from Rs. 3,920 crore in the previous year. Its net profit down to Rs 31.77 crore compared with Rs 666 crore a year ago.Adding fuel to the fire, June sales of TVS was not impressive. The sales rose only by two per cent when Bajaj and Hero Honda reporting 8% and 16% increase in sales respectively.

Honda to launch 800cc bike in India

With the launch of new CBF stunner, Honda today announced that it will introduce an 800cc bike by the end of this financial year. “When we introduced motorcycles in India, we started with smaller engine sizes to cater to the masses. We have been exploring launching bigger motorcycles and this year an 800cc bkie will be launched for the Indian market,” Honda president and chief executive S. Aoyama said. “The 800cc bike will be imported from the parent company,” Aoyama added. It is important to recall in 2007 Governement of India relaxed the norms for importing bikes with capacity more than 800cc. Manufacturers like Yamaha and Ducati have already introduce their superbikes in India.

Coming back to the CBF stunner, Honda believes that the new bike will compliment the shine. With the stunner’s sporty look, Honda targets the 18-25 age group. “The USP of the CBF is its looks and styling combined with affordability and a great mileage,” HMSI sales and marketing head N.K. Rattan said.

An 125cc which cranks out 11bhp of peak power at 8000rpm and 11Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm powers the CBF stunner. This high performance engine is mated with a five speed transmission (1 down four up). According to Honda CBF Stunner reaches 60kmph from stand still in just 5.2 seconds

CBF Stunner comes with first of its kind feature in the 125cc segment – integrated front cowl,sporty split seats, wider tubeless tyre at the front and the rear for all variants and a sporty foot step holder.

The dimensions of the CBF Stunner are it length is 2012 width is 734 and it heighs 1113mm. The Ground clearance of the CBF stunner is 173mm. CBF Stunner weighs 129kg and comes with 10 litre fuel tank.

CBF stunner features telescopic front fork suspension at the front and 3 step spring loaded hydraulic shock absorber at the rear.

CBF stunner gets 240mm disc brake at the front and 130mm drum at the rear.

For the first time in 125cc segment a bike comes with tubeless tyres at the front and the rear. CBF stunner comes with 80/100 tubeless tyre at the front and 90/100 wider tubeless tyre at the rear. The 17″ alloy at the front and rear adds sporty character to the bike.

CBF Stunner will be avaiable in three variants – self disc alloy,self drum alloy and kick drum alloy. Self disc alloy and self drum alloy will be available in four colours sports red, pearl sports yellow,space silver metallic and black while kick drum will be available in two colours – sports red and black. Honda today launched the much awaited CBF Stunner in Delhi. Ever since the CBF Stunner concept unveiled at Delhi Auto expo, the expectations for this stunner are running high.
